I want to view the video about the animal being killed for
fur, but it keeps making my browser crash (both in
Firefox and in IE).

I've tried rebooting, uninstalling some codecs and even
turning my firewall off, but nothing helps.

Does anyone have any ideas? It worked on my computer at work
today, which is broadly similar to my home computer. I
really want to show my girlfriend this video!

:) Thanks for the very fast response and help, but......

I copied that link and pasted it into the "play url" option
in WinAmp - it said "Error Syncing to MPEG"...... argh. Any
more ideas?

It is fucking frightening.... the most horrible thing I have
ever seen. I have my reasons for wanting to show my
girlfriend, I'm not just a sadist :)

Watching that clip made me feel really frustrated and
powerless, I wanted to mame the guy in front of those
animals and his family.

I don't think that lowers me to the same level, there is no
excuse for such an inhumane act.

read this (shocking) :

Undercover Investigators from Swiss Animals Protection
East/International spent the past year investigating fur
farms in China's Hebei Province and found that many animals,
including dogs and foxes, are still alive and struggling
desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang
them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on
these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal's
leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the
necks and heads of animals who, fighting for their lives,
struggle too hard to allow for a clean cut. When the fur is
finally peeled off over the animals' heads, their naked,
bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone
before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps
and blinking slowly. Some of the animals' hearts are still
beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One
investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of
carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head
and stare into the camera, with only his eyelashes still
intact.

You can also write to J-Lo (an endorser of fur) and tell her
what you think! This is her real address by the way

After viewing a succession of videos on animal cruelty, I
have instantly become a vegetarian, no jokes. I had no idea
of how fucking horrific the killing process of an animal is.
The thought of it now makes me sick to the gut. It's just
fucking inhumane.

hahaha.

I know the process of making cereals and vegetables (because
my father is farmer) and you would be freaked if you know
the names of chemicals he spreads on the field.

those are 150 characters chemical names...
recently he bought a fungicide with 40 grams of active
product for 400€.

suposedly if you want to preserve nature, you have to buy
"biological products", although biological method use
chemicals too.
and people buy very few "biological products" because they
are expensive and not so better tasty.

What a sorry state mankind is at.

Are you a vege? I guess not as your dad is a farmer.

what this video tells me is not, "i had better not eat meat"
- it's more like, "i had better not buy fur from china" not
that i would buy fur anyway, but really, one thing has
nothing to do with the other. this is how one company does
business - it is in no way related to anything else.

i don't want to go through all those - what will they tell
me that i don't know? that the meat industries are unclean,
unsafe and harsh on animals? i already know all about
that.

even knowing all about that doesn't mean you have to give up
meat, friends. if you want animals not to suffer, if you
want healthy meat products, don't go to any chains for food
and only support organic/free range farming.

It's not just chains though it's supermarkets. You can't
escape it, that's the problem.

you don't have any organic/free-range products in your
supermarkets?

I'm not sure if there's a relationship with organic and
humane killing but I know for sure that there is no local
produce in my local tescos.

animals raised in a free-range farm should lead normal lives
as they normally would and then are killed humanely without
being pumped full of chemicals, etc.

As organic is becoming more and more popular that statement
is becoming less and less true.

no it isn't becoming less true. don't be absurd. organic
is becoming less popular because it is more expensive. and
if your gov't is anything like ours, it's because the gov't
only subsidizes the non-organic (read: giant corporate)
farms. why? because they are powerful and can lobby,
whereas the tiny indie farms cannot. it all comes down to
economics and politics.

"Are you a vege? I guess not as your dad is a farmer."

great cliche but actually I especially enjoy eating what we
produce because it's good eating a vegetable that is still
growing some minutes before.

They are mad farmers who abuses fertilizers and treatments
but they can't really much because that's expensive of
course, and finaly one sell 1000 kg of weat for 120€.

really, actually we are moderate with chemicals. we often
use half the recommended dose.

also this summer we will make zucchinis and sell them as low
as 20 € cents/kg, while in supermarket it will be like
1.80 €/kg at the same time.
but in a period of one week it can change up to 2€ for us
vs 5-6€ in the supermarket. hopefully they do fruits up to
2 months long.

organic/free range farming.
It's really difficult to face competition because you
produce very little, and you have to fill dozens of papers
proving it's really organic etc...
I know a smart guy who was in the organic side, but it has
gone crazy, and it went bankrupt.

PS : ok all of this is off-topic but not that much

You are talking as a resident of the US and so I can't argue
against what you have experienced. However, what I have said
IS evident in the UK.

So you're saying they're making it more difficult for people
to produce organic? I have to say that I'm surprised as you
live in France!

I remember the record of organic plants cunsumption is like
60€ a year/a person. it's fairly low compared to what they
really eat. in France, it's like 20€. wow.

I compare this to the energy problem :

Some people think we should use solar pannels, water and
wind energy.

okay it's a good idea but obviously they didn't realize what
the world consumes in electricity.
and I don't want to use solar pannels because I can't switch
off all those useless lights on the road etc...
