i guess 3000 means it's as fast, or even better (+) as pentium4 3 ghz
my poop athlon 1600 has been running 1,05 instead of 1,4 for a long time, cause it crashed, i hope my new powerfeedthing and case will let me do 1,4

so, if i have athlon 3000+ with 1GHz proc, what pentiun is equal to that ? and in general, is it fast, or a little outdated ?

I thought all athlon 3000+ processors were at least 2GHz ?
(i'm probably wrong though)

when i go to my system options, i can see the name and specs listed as Athlon 1Ghz. theres a sticker on the case which says Athlon 3000+. the name is Scaleo P by Fujitsu Siemens. im confused now. the pc is quite fast, you know. just was wandering whats inside.

it's not the athlon 64 is it?
it looks like the computer could come with either P4,Celeron D, Athlon 64, Athlon XP, or Sempron

well, its not p4, its not AMD 64. now - is it XP or Sempron ? and still - if its XP 3000+ with only 1GHz, or is it Sempron ? how do i check that ? it costed 1000 quids, so is it possible that it was simple athlon 3000+ with so slow proc ? i dunno.

my computer system properties (right click on my computer) say:
AMD Athlon (TM) XP1600+ 1.41 GHz i guess that 1,41 is what it says at the amd website for 1600 and what you should verify

i think it's set to slow also i heard you can overclock you processor, so you should be able to set it that low too i guess, though that's not an option in my bios

well. i have the athlon 2600+ and i run it at 2.1ghz. so...i would say that the 3200+ probably runs a little faster than that.

No way, with this overclocking device I got with the motherboard, I can speed it up to max 2160Mhz.

youve got your motherboard clock setting all wrong. i had this problem when i first got my athlon 1700+, i could only get it running at 750 mhz or so, until i looked through my motherboards manual and made some tech calls. i forget which setting it was, but its most probably a jumper setting, so dig around in the manual/ call tech support and itll get soirted out immediately. i even remember the company having a little thing telling me how to fix it while i was waiting for tech support, so it wasnt even like i was on the phone for 3+ hours.

Do you think the settings on the motherboard are wrong or does the 3deye display show wrong information?
My system is very fast and I can play the latest games on full settings, so I guess the display is wrong...?

technically, it should be at 2.2 ghz, but since its only 100 mhz off im sure that just some kind of discrepancy in calculations. so youre all good.
opto on the other hand has got some settings to still fool around with.

I found this somewhere on the web:
"if it's just for gaming, i'd go Athlon64
i switched from a P4 to a A64 3200+ and it was a great change, even though my MHz didn't change, both run at 2GHz (newer 3200+ run at 2.2GHz but have half the cache), but the speed is much faster on the A64 (obviously)"

so now that they stopped using GHz(? did they), how the fuck do they measure processing power/speed anymore?

they didnt and the overal speed is influenced by alot more than just the processor ghz

nah, they still use ghz - 2500+, 3200+ etc are just names that amd have given the processors, it's supposed to show the equivalent p4 speed

yea the architecture of processors is alot more important now that the maximum ghz you have achieve is generally universal nowadays. same with graphics cards.
