So this time, yes this bloody time I've decided to quit,
for my 19th birthday. But here the realistic pinch I'm in.
Today is my birthday, and I want to quit for/on my birthday.
Does that mean I can't buy one more pack for today and enjoy
the hell out of it? Or should today be my last day to smoke?

You'll be ratty as fuck if you give up today, it's not worth
it. One more pack, man. I'm sure your lungs won't care too
much. Happy birthday by the way.

I'm 20 since 1st may, I started smoking 4 years ago, but I
had not thought of stopping for my birthday.
For how long do you have been smoking ?

just don't smoke. its hard enough, you have to change to a
non-smoker personality acitvly. if you buy a pack you are at
best a smoker who just doesnt smoke at the moment. well..

Happy birthday! be happy and try to find good things in life
more frequently than they occur.

well, imho yesterday should have been the last smoking day

somethings gotta hit you, like a real hard smack in the
face. An epiphany one why its so bad, or damned expensive.
I've let it run my life, I don't even consciously think
about the expenses or the danger. But I'm an adult now, and
even tho I still buy them without trouble, Now I get this
boast of confidence that its legal for me now, which
inclines me to buy them more often. This, coupled with the
fact that I sound like a dying bum coughing at school some
days has really given me that smack in the face.

erm nicotine doesn't relax you - in fact it increases
adrenaline in your blood by 15-75% !!! People just think it
calms them down but it doesnt.

its a nice idea but could ruin your birthday if you have bad
cravings etc, so i would quit the day after. going cold
turkey is a pretty hard way of quitting. i tried, i failed.

i had no calm minute for some months when i quit. terrible.
but its not the same for everybody

smoking isn't that bad, you only have to be reasonable.
but your case of dying bum coughing makes me think you
smoked too much.

One strange thing I remember is when I smoked my first cig I
found it really disgusting, it gave me nausea etc.. but now
I can't stop...

I know the good method for stopping is the one Cheffe1979
did

I don't think stopping on a special day is a good idea
The special day has to be simply the one when you know for
sure you'll never do it again.

i usually find that I don't want a fag if I've smoked a
shitload the night before, so tomorrow would probably be
easier imo =o)
