Piano software?

Aloha.

I just bought myself an Edirol PCR-50. Pretty nice :) I'm
trying to find a software that can write in real-time a
partition while I'm playing on the keys. I can after that
edit the partition.

Cakewalk is okay but Cubase is better - at least last time I
checked it had better support for VST plugins.

if you only want written score, finale is what you
want... finale notepad is free.

would i be right in thinking cakewalk will score it in
classical notation and cubase won't? if you're playing the
piano "live" and you are looking to edit it afterwards, i
was presuming albeit possibly erroneusly, that this would be
the preferred option.

finale is best for score, but if you want to DO stuff with
the MIDI-data afterwards, use Reason or something.

No. You can do musical notation in cubase.

The free "Finale" stuff isn't doing nothing, I have to get
the Finale 2005 software.

I'll check out Cakewalk

Perhaps a VST?

have you set it up properly? The notepad is the only thing I
could get working with my midi setup (I have to use that mpu
4whatever thingie that is built into the soundcard... that
doubles as a gaming controller port...).

I just now realised that you may not be asking for
MIDI notation software, just something that somehow writes
the score of what you play, even though I still think you
are asking about midi notation.. are you?

Yeah I'm asking for the second thing, where it writes the
score of what I play in real-time while I input it from my
midi-controller. I have to say for simple notation, that
Notepad free software is all that somebody needs.

i dont think pianos use software, the only thing ive ever
seen like that was the spool for a player piano
