In the week that I've owned this device I've come to
empathize with all you rabid Ipod owners. It is the first
piece of technology that has given me that 'gee wiz' feeling
since that pong game system I got for christmas when I was
5.

I take it to bed with me at night so fucking and sleep have
been sorely neglected.

I want you all to buy one so we can play games (built in
wi-fi) and be tired and horny together.

So what does it have? Like ps2 graphics or something? I like
that it can play movies. That way you can watch something on
the can. Thats cool.

It looks neat. post your thoughts

It suposedly has greater processing power than a PS2. I
dont have a ps2 to testify to that fact, but the gfix are
amazing. Movies look beautiful (it came with Spider Man 2)
on the mini dvd and you can copy video files to the memory
stick for playback- haven't done that yet. The audio is
great with non-oem headphones and it suposedly supports 7.1
surround.

What has really struck me though is the photo viewing. I
have a 5mp digital camera and the images look great on the
screen. You can pan and zoom the image and 'explore' the
details that are in the pic in a very fun and intuitive
manner- its like prospecting for prospective photoshop
material.

At $250 Sony is suposedly loosing over $100 per unit and
judging by the screen alone, I believe it.

The PSP is for REAL MEN! ( and FlyAgaric's mom)

Yes Sony has never released a gaming machine or sold game
software.
How bright and intuitive you are!

Thank you so much for your articulate contribution to this
tread.

They should only market things that flyagaric's mom apprives
and enjoys.

MAN I want one of these, they look beautiful. Can't afford
it right now though.

I don't see why some people are STILL questioning Sony's
commitment to games and innovation over technology. This
gen, they've introduced totally aweslime first party
franchises like Jak, ICO, Ratchet, God of War, Killzone,
Sly, etc, and the only ''new'' intellectual property
Nintendo's done is Pikmin. Other than that, it's the same
old Mario/Zelda/Donkey Kong/Metroid.

little device, but sexy it ain't.

The PSP is sexy like an Ipod with a nice set of tits.

I am of course speaking euphismistically of the screen.

The DS works.. The PSP will be buggy. (But PSP will be
awesome, don't take me wrong). I just trust Nintendo more
than Sony in Portable consoles. And im happy to own a PS2..
Don't need the portable version with bugs. hehe.

Mine works like a dream and any glitches will be easily
patched via updates. It hooks right up to the internets
after all.

Another great thing about it is you can power it off at any
time and when you power it back on it boots immediately to
the state it was last in regardless of the application.

I love the DS. For the price i think it's well worth it.
Plus i'm a nostalgic gamer, i like fun, platformers, puzzle
games and even driving. But games have got a little to real
and adult for my taste. I don't need videogames for that.

I might get the psp when it comes out here (been delayed)
but then again i hope i don't give in. Like tridenti i
prefer nintendo's style over sony...just a shame there's so
much more variaty on sony.

I'm happy i got my ds for the mario game alone, brilliant.
And the hobbesette love the touch screen thingy, she plays
it more than i do.

I think the psp will do well though, sony are marketing
masters and all the functions it has over the DS will help.

Still, i don't think the nintendo one is just an
"interesting gimmik". not for me anyway, as i can
also play all the old games from my old one. Nostalgia!

variety*

I'd like to add i though the touch screen thihng would be a
bit crap, but i love the new ways it brings to gaming.
Like i said i like colors, fun and stuff... i'm a bit bored
of the killing and dark 3d graphics. I must one of the rare
few. :)

I love the DS. Its innovative AND sexy. WTF is everyone
talking about?

oooh a big screen. wow, i have a 17 widescreen TV and a PS2
does that make me cooler than PSP owners ?

I dont agree with this 'same old mario/metroid' crap. They
were great ideas to begin with and are constantly being
improved upon to enjoy in new ways. Sony however fits the
description more because it IS the same old crap, only
better graphics. How many times can you play Tomb Raider
until you realize that the only reason you keep getting the
newest one is because Lara Crofts breasts and ass are in
higher resolution?

The ''Lara Croft'' argument (Eidos, not Sony) only works if
you disregard how revolutionary and copied games that got
their start with Sony are, like Devil May Cry, Symphony of
the Night, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Grand Theft Auto and
Metal Gear Solid, or how Sony's own first party PS2
platformers have cleaned house and rendered Nintendo's a
near non-factor (Mario Sunshine was pretty underwhelming).

Also, ICO, a Sony product, is more artistic than Zelda ever
was.

Yeah, I'm a Sony fanboy, holla if ya hear me!

Sony may have mastered genres and made good games, but they
are mostly all copies or different versions of older
games.....from when sony was doing something else... nothing
much new, just all a bit "souped" up.

I remember the first time i read the name "playstation" it
was the name of a project that was gonna be done between
sony and nintendo. A long time ago.

Holla!

I'm a sony fanboy (cameras, minidisc, laptops), but I don't
own a ps2 or even a ps1 for that matter so I look forward to
playing those games on the PSP-> in the comfort of the
hammock in my backyard!

But that's not even the real reason I bought it. It's a
mobile video player/photo viewer.

Oh-yeah- you can put music on it too!

Plus it makes me the envy of every 12 year old in the
neighborhood.

pwn3d.

I mean come on $250? and it doesn't even play dvds or ps2
games, or ps1 games for that matter. So then you have to
shell out some more hundreds for little gay dvds that only
work on PSP. At least DS is backwards (and fowards)
compatable and i can get it for $130. Oh and all the buttons
on my DS work like a charm.

I have thoroughly mashed all buttons repeatedly and without
incident.

As I said before i have no ps1 or 2 games for it to be
compatible with and I didn't buy it primarily for the
games.

If i were in the market for a DS and had the choice of one
with this screen for $250 I'd get it, but as I'd have no
games for such a device to be compatible with either and it
had no other functions, I'd still get the PSP.

I didn't buy the little thing for those purposes. There's
plenty of other devices for those sort of things that are
less bulky to carry around.
Calm down a little, you feel well oppressed in every thread

Best Buy had 2 tonight though they are probably gone by
now.

I stopped in a local game shop for Doom 3 (before I went to
Best Buy) and they were selling the japanesee import for
$700 dollars when it first came out.
