I think there is a very fine line between these two styles... what would some of you describe that fine line as?

I know when you think of a type of music you think of an artist that reminds you of that style but I'm talking about how house becomes techno and techno becomes house...like for example this Dave Clarke mix I have ,one minute it's hard techno then it slips into a house groove and so on

you are right there's a very fine line which is often blurred especially with the stuff from Detroit and Chicago but the most obvious difference would have to be the overt Disco bass lines..Piano's..organ riffs and obvious the divas wailing on top are what seperate house from Techno..the beats and structures are almost identical..but once Techno leaves the US the differences become a lot more pronounced...Techno in the hands of Germans and English became a different beast altogether..harsher, minimal and highly futuristic...
