I had to happen. The boring fucker has managed to produce
a mature well conceived album that is most enjoyable.
kétsarkú mozgalom is my current most liked. You can guess
the album from the track name.

They are also a gang of stupid pricks even considering
trying to compare snores with autechre...different sound,
different vibe and snares has a long way to go before he
could come close to matching ae. John Bush is a gobshite.

yeah i dont think hccbu sounds like autechre at all, except
in the way that autechre is also electronic music with out
fast breaks

Yeah John Bush fucked up spectacularly there.

Critics and Autechre don't mix at all. Three stars for
Confield etc.

Reading the reviews of Ae's work by Mr Bush is equally as
shit.

About Draft:

"The record is immediately more compelling than Confield,
with less focus on their trademarked random-beat-making
software."

Random beat making software? The fucker hasn't got a clue
what he is writing about. That was the first and last time
I will visit that site to see what opinions are held because
it is obvious this John Bush character is totally ignorant
about the subject he is supposed to be reviewing.

Easy. Listen to the album, every track is very structured
just applying different production techniques. Most of it
is loop based but the loops are sometimes longer than you
would expect and the DSP is used to great effect.

I would find it difficult to prove something you don't want
to beleive though.

this album is just to hm... weird for me... i mean i listen
to everything - otto, devine, vsnares - so i can imagine i'm
able to find patterns and structures in music...

so many times i have heard that confield is great - vene the
best album ever. - i tohught that i just can't get it. i
tried it so many times - but after the 4 songs it's the end
for me - and the intro is kinda anoying for me too.

that's why i think that it is kinda overhyped and random -
but i wouldn't argue with anyone that says something
different

I know it sounds stupid but I think ae's music trades very
much on emotion, they pack a lot of their own emotion into
the tracks and if you don't get hooked on that then I can
imagine it sounding very sterile. I think that is why I
just don't see appeal in Snares music, nothing about it
grabs me and yet many people see it as angst ridden genius.

I bought the new snares on friday, its great. i really like
it. I also really like confield. They are both fantastic
albums. What is the big problem with DSP?
The only problem with DSP is the 'make new track' button
which any moron can press and out pops a track, except not
every moron has done it, because there are not tons of 'DSP'
tracks around, infact there are hardly any crap so called
'DSP' or 'random' tracks, let alone good ones, so this
arguement is rubbish.

Anyway, new Vsnares is absolutely brill. If you don't like
vsnares give this a try, because it is in his style, but not
so in your face, or dare I say random as before, you may
well like it.

I like how some tracks on Confield take your attention away
from the overall "storyboard" or timeline of the song and
keep the focus upon the present moment in the track.

That didn't make any sense at all, did it?

No I get what you are saying. Like how some songs have
little drum changes to stop a 4 to the floor beat getting
monotonous, only more so, in the case of confield, much more
so.

No body was argueing here about the use of DSP to the extent
of Confield being a good or bad thing. In fact I made the
only reference to DSP in the topic and it wasn't from a
conversation viewpoint. There is indeed a misconception
that DSP is some sort of magical do all routine that
magically creates tracks from nothing...a concept that is
complete bullshit. Ae have used the off beat thing ever
since flutter...it is a brilliant effect which if used too
much is rubbish but used just right it is unsettling.

perhaps not in this thread, perhaps not yet, but that sort
of nonsense always seems to pop up sooner or later. anyway I
thought this was about the new snares not old ae??!?

I like the track about the pigeons. :)

This new album is really poor, but I've explained why I
think that in previous threads.

I don't get the praise it is recieving, people who bashed
Snares before all over it. Blah. This album is nowhere near
as good as Doll Doll Doll, WITBOAS, Choc Wheelchair or even
Find Candace. So if you love this album but dislike all of
the aforementioned, I think you're a psychopath.

could you try to describe which emotions you feel in
Confield's tracks? i'm curious, i find Autechre to be some
of the coldest music i know... (sometimes beautiful, Vi
Scose Poise for example, but far from conveying human
emotions)

As much as I enjoy listening to it, I don't feel connected
to some of the tracks yet, and it has taken over a year to
be able to get anything from it at all. Bine scares the shit
out of me at high volumes though.
