I never once listened to Sun Ra to my knowledge. Should I?

Ok. Tell me a little about this. What kind of music is it?
What three albums should i start with and why?

Thanks!

he mixed avantgarde jazz, traditional egyptian music
(marches etc), american music like swing and blues and
electronic experimentation.
he lived from 1910 - 1993. sun ra himself described his
music as "painting pictures of infinity" and generally you
say that "many people dont get him". but whatever, that's
jazz geeks with no open mind.

albums

- Atlantis
- Space Is The Place
- Strange Celestial Road or It's After The End Of The World

I really like the albums: Lanquidity, Magic City, both Solar
Myth Approach's.
My local record store has a large portion of his discography
on vinyl and cd. They're 2 dvds available too that I was
looking at today.

Yes, one was the cry of jazz, the other was called A Joyful
Noise and I was tempted to buy it at £16, I didn't though
because I forgot which one i was recommended, I was just
that Joyful Noise is supposed to be good though.
