i don't know about you, but i don't think many people know
much about the others on this website, 'our colleagues' of
afx,ae), and i think it would be nice to find out what each
other 'do' ...

I program databases and do tech support for humans so stupid
it is a marvel that they are able to drink fluids without
suffocating.

One time I got one of those sorts of calls that never
happens to you, only to other people and you wonder if it's
an urban legend. A guy couldn't use his PC because of a
power blackout so he wanted me to PCAnywhere into his PC and
do something for him. After a minute of patient explanation
he understood that this could not be done without
electricity.

most people on the mb...

i can't help but notice that diastole has failed to mention
what she "does"...

i recruit and interview people for a large scale cancer
prevention study...

I can be interresting to say the least. People DO actually
hand in films of themselves in all kinds of sexual
situations. Good fun, although usually I'm so busy I don't
have time to look.

HAM SKINNER. Depending on how fast the line runs, I skin a
ham every eight to twelve seconds, tossing the meat on to a
moving conveyor belt. If I miss a square, the ex-Marine
Foreman starts screaming at me.

The hams weigh anywhere from seventeen to twenty-two pounds
apiece. I hook a ham with my meathook, and slam it down on
the machine, hitting a pedal with my left foot. I press and
manipulate the meat against a roller/blade skinner, leaning
on it, and if my hand touches that I can skin myself up to
the elbow, whittle my fingers down to pencil-pointed
appendages, etc. I cannot stop, but can't fully watch what
I'm doing because I'm constantly looking up at a rear-view
mirror, showing the giant vat of meat above and behind me.

With my right foot I tap the hydraulic pedal which gradually
dumps more meat out of the vat and down the chute into the
holding bin directly beside me. An ice-cold mixture of blood
and water also spills out, and I am spattered and bathed in
it every time I tap down more meat.

This is in a refrigerated room, so I am cold and wet all
night long, but perspiring heavily at the same time. A lot
of guys cannot do this job, a lot have had their hands
completely farbled up by skinning hams. I've just lost the
veriest tips off of my little fingers so far. All it takes
is a split-second lapse of attention.

i would like to be a part-time record producer with my own
label, and do charity work. that would be my dream life,
then when i retire, write stuff and publish it myself, give
it loads of promotion so people will get hypoed up about the
book, buy it and feel fools for being sucked in. then become
an old alchoholic lady living in the south of france in a
little homestead farm with lots of animals, cats dogs goats
etcc.. and shoot the local wildlife with a potato gun
