Mahavishnu Orchestra (their stuff is more of a fusion thing
though)
John Coltrane
Weather Report
Jaco Pastorius
Jaga Jazzist (though i wouldn't call it jazz... rather,
jazzy electronica... or something else. but yeah, jazz is
VERY difficult to define - so ok, let's call those guys jazz
:)

also, i always thought most of Zappa's stuff was anything
but not jazz. imo, he is very hard to pigeonhole into one
category...

However. I have yet to listen to any Cecil Taylor records,
and from what I hear I should love him. (Avant Garde you
know)

I didn't get this stuff until I got into Autechre and
"learned" to just let the music wash over me instead of
trying to anticipate, amd thus, fighting it. Hard to listen
to, hard to hear, easy to love.

jazz, just the stuff that is jazzy is some of my favorite
jazz :)

i've never been a Metheny fan, but this album is one of my
