It has a place in my heart from childhood I'm afraid, so
it's not really going to budge until a solid trilogy appears
from somewhere.

The Man with No Name Trilogy (Fistfull of Dollars, For a Few
Dollars More and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly)

Back to the Future

Internal Affairs (Hong Kong)

The Lord of the Rings is of course the winner

Unless they speak the truth.

I never liked star wars. Without the hype its just a
standard science fiction series.

the only sci fi movie that comes close to any in the
original 3 in their era is dune
and the sci fi universe which it belongs to is one of the
most intricate and wonderful I can think of
name one other "standard" sci fi series that matches it

bond is more of a franchise. terminator is a good call, but

too great.
