i like the name of this place a lot.

"The smallest and safest capital city of Europe, yet big
enough for everyone to find a place for themselves. "

Milwaukee has the biggest foursided clock in the world

We are the home of the miller brewery and 100's of others.
Lots of beer here.

I think summerfest is the biggest outdoor fest or something
of that order.

I live here

president john f kennedy was shot in the head in downtown
dallas

deep ellum (where autechre are coming to play) is the
biggest punk/emo/rock shit hole in northern texas

dallas is a shit hole basically. full of selfish snobby
artists. the hip hop scene was assassinated somewhere
between 1998 and 2000. it's M.I.A. the rave scene is vivid
but full of minors

"American humorist, Erma Bombeck, drove across North America
with her family to see what they expected to be a thrilling
natural phenomenon. When they reached Moncton, she wrote, "A
trickle of brown water, barely visible, slowly edged its way
up the river toward us with all the excitement of a
stopped-up toilet...I retained more water than that...It was
a long time before anyone spoke. About 5,000 miles to be
exact.""

my hometown is called Melitopol. Right now i live in Kiev,
visiting my family in Melitopol rather seldom.
here is a page with photos - they are old soviet
postcards scanned. The town doesn't look like that now - it
is in province, and its municipal structures are not much
concerned with the looks of the town, or lack resources for
that. It looks decaying - broken roads, rotting autumn
leaves on the sidewalks, dog shit and garbage everywhere.
Only a small surface of town is made more-less tidy, near
some shops which are businesses of local rich.

I have sent music home for my two younger sisters -
Autechre, RDJ stuff, kotra, Goodhands Team :), and so on.
They gave it to their friends when they asked. When these
friends returned discs back, there was misunderstanding on
their faces (reported). When I came home, they looked at me
as if I was from another planet, or, at least, in need of
psychotherapy.

The town has been invaded by few supermarkets, people find
it okay to go far to shop in them, 'as seen on TV'. Fuck.

The whole town can be crossed in an hour and a half, by
feet. We can reach edges of town in one hour from our place,
by feet.

Population - not more than 200,000 ppl. Actually, not more
than 150,000.

There have been some explosions near Melitopol - in 30 or 40
km north. All news sites and papers said that Melitopol has
exploded but this is lies. Not a single piece of bombshell
reached the town.

photos 1, 2, 3

Image: The Rocky Mound. Archaeological site 4 km
north-west from Melitopol. A heap of stones with some
ancient petroglyphs on them

"misunderstanding on their faces" nice title of a track that
would be.
it's quite the same musical situation in my area [ Poland,
western border, small town ], people here are mostly into
radio mainstream hip-pop gangsta shit.

Cirencester (where I live now):

Second largest roman settlement in the UK (largest was
london).

It has 3 names: Cirencester (the modern), Zoiren (The
celtic) and Corinium (the roman).

It is the capital of the Cotswolds district.

It is right next to the Cotswolds water park- a huge
colleciton of 26 or so man made lakes. They cover a bigger
area of land than the norfolk broads!

Barry (hometown):

When I was in my teens (although not because of me!),
Barry had the highest juvenile crime rate of any town/city
in europe.

Thanks to our corrupt council, Barry was the only place in
the UK that permission has been granted to build new houses
on previously undeveloped headland, this millenium!

Barry has the second highest tides (Ie largest difference
between high and low tide) in the world.

Barry used to be the largest exporter of coal in the world
(main port for the vallies coal mines.)

dublin:
- one of the most expensive citys to live in in Europe. My
mother bought her crappy council house in 1990 for 28K, its
now worth 300K. I mean.. hello! average rent is about
500Euro/month

- smoking is banned in all public buildings..resteraunts,
pubs, clubs etc.. and it works fine

- recently got a new tram system and there are 2 tramlines
and an average of 58 crash per month!

- is a magnet for quality electronica except for VSnares who
let lots of people down last autumn by missing his flight

- has the most hard-ass women in the world to chat up

- is filthy, dirty, expensive, cold, wet, badly laid out,
small, sprawling etc but great craic and full of characters
and nice pubs!

Forgot to add - With it being the birthplace of radio we
have the lamest selection of radio stations and a non
existent music scene....If only mr Marconi could see the
place now
