... I am totally blown away by this band lately... I cant
stop buying their music and listening to it (of course)

first of all, for those interested here is the best resource
I found about the band:

pink floyd & co

the design is not as classy as here, but it has lots of
contents... its an awesome resourde I think, and I ve been
over two weeks searching the web for all the pink floyd
pages I could find (hehe, the same I did when I found out
about aphex)

I know I am 29 and its a little late to discover pink floyd,
but hey, better late than never

apart fromt he famous albums that most of you might know, I
highly recomend the "more" sountrack... listen to the main
them (track 7), that melody is so idm, its great.... really
a fucking great album, and very unknown I think

Live in pompeii.

also.... if you download music then you might be interested
in the 92 disc set that was on bit torrent.

I have tree of secrets (18disks) which has a lot of rarities

I know I made a bum suggestion in the "Atom Heart Mother"
thread, and should be banned, possibly, for mentioning
"Ummagumma", but I do really like the "More"soundtrack too.

Cirrus Minor is a trippy song. I like Cymbaline too.
Obscured By Clouds is great too.

"ummagumma" is at the same time kind of charming and kind of
shit. extraordinary.

one thing that does irk me about Pink Floyd is that their
cds always stay full price. how much money do you need?

same goes for a lot of Beatles cds.

I love ummagumma too, both live and studio albums... the
roger waters piece with the animals and all that is fucking
great... more than just funny

I'm not going to keep on about Ummagumma as I'll end up as
"That twat the keeps on about Ummagumma in Nacmat's threads
about Pink Floyd" rather than for any of my spurious merits.
In fact, I'm going to just say it's shit.

momentary lapse of reason is awful. you're better off
listening to amused to death by roger waters which is really
classy. and of course, the barrett albums. and where is
their best album, piper at the gates of dawn? :)

their best album, piper at the gates of dawn?

if you see what I bought... its practically all from their
"golden" years... from meddle to the wall

once I assimilate these I will go onto the early years (I
have a saucerful of secrets already) and onto the post
waters era

what do you guys think of "the wall"
and what about the final cut?

the narrow way & grantchester meadows are great, the rest is
padding. it was a concept album that went a bit wrong.

so it was titled 'ummagumma', i.e., what a disaster.

Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox....
gone to ground... See the splashing of the kingfisher,
diving through the water... And a river of green is sliding
unseen beneath the trees, laughing as it passes through the
endless summer, making for the sea...

I think the whole bloated mess is worth it just for that bit
of hippy whimsy.

My favorite material is the early material. But then again
it is easy for me to listen to absolutely any floyd at all.
It depends on my mood and what day it is.

about a momentary lapse of reason: i remember back then
friend of mine brougt me this cassette tape and said, hey it
is new pink floyd, wanna hear - i could not believe that
pink floyd would be without waters. that song was learning
to fly. i still find sorrow to be my favorite from this
album.

Whoa, you just discovered Pink Floyd? That's a bit weird but
I envy you. I'd love to get into a band with a catalogue as
meaty as theirs right now. It never happens anymore.

Do you have Piper at the Gates of Dawn yet? I definitely
prefer the Syd Barrett era, and he has two brilliant solo
albums.

I will go onto the barret era when I get some money... there
is some barret in echoes compilation and in a saucerful of
secrets though... and in the ummagumma live album, so i can
make the picture

I will get patgod and relics next month
then in may i will go for the official live sets, such as
pulse, delicate sound of thunder...

one thing is sure, I will probably not buy any studio album
post "the wall"... I listened to the mp3s and those albums I
dont like so far
