i love that release - they are heavily underappreciated.
okay - maybe it consists only of randomly generated drums and every song is similar but the autechre like melodies make my heart beat faster...

"Swoon EP" on Shadetek records is also well worth hunting down. They've also done a nice NYC street scene video for "Shortening" off that ep. Handmade covers by Swoon, the queen of wheatpasting.

I've still not heard this, sadly. The WSHT radio mix they released on violent turd (i think) is very awesome though.

I've listend to the samples and it has some nice tracks but imo they wank a bit to much with the sound. I'd like it a bit more straight forward

Aye, Burnerism is an excellent ep for those who like hip hop beats a tiny bit to the left. I rinsed through this in my christmas holidays and it got better and better. Swoon is nice too.

It's to repetitive and emmotionless for me.
If I want beat/sound wankery there's plenty of more enjoyable and more exciting options.

Do you like hip hop (not that jiggy clean digital stuff but proper hip hop)?
IMO Shadetek's aesthetic is so heavily based on hiphop+dancehall, that unless you can appreciate heavy beats just for the sake of them it's probably not for you

edgar and shadetek are different. i love them both
i emailed shadetek and they loved the fact they had a few middle eastern fans. i love this album, it alwasy finds its way on my CD player. its not as anal as shadetek but (i find) as emotional asd plaid. its great hiphopishcrucnhy stuff. love it. love it too bits.l i can surf to this stuff and feel completely at home.

I love this album, they're all about quality (I'm sure they didn't just randomly generate drums)...BUT I must admit...my one complaint would be (and I'm sure many would agree) that I cannot listen to most of their songs all the way through. I get kind of bored. Like, they have awesome build-ups but then they just start repeating everything. It's almost cliche. I agree with Sire, you have to really appreciate heavy beats to enjoy this album all the way through.

I do appreciate heavy beats. but honestly I don't like it. it sounds like autechre hiphopified. they have cools sounds like in the track "house of leaves" but the beats are just to wanky. I think it's just a matter of taste.

saw them at that too, they were great. i missed pretty much 90% of the chris clark set and didn't regret it (well the gig WAS free), they were that good with the djing.
burnerism doesn't do much for me though. my friend chris, with whom i went to that gig, went mad for them after seeing them, bought it, and thinks it's one of the best things evar however.
just can't see it

man, you listen to music the same way one eats fast food
this way you are missing out lots of good stuff cos you overlook it
and thats why you seem to be so dissapointed with muic in general... but its not the music... its the way you consume it
