what speacial problems, if any, arise for the correspondance theory of truth with regard to negative claims (for example "there is no cat on james pearce's Matt"
Can correspondance theory overcome the problems associated with this type of claim?
what a cunt of a question!

They'd still probably be written in some kind of unreadable lifeless style.

The answer you need to put is, "A lot of people who take philosophy, existentialism in particular, too seriously off themselves. Therefore, it is better to focus on something that is practical, enjoyable and beneficial to society."
I'm no philistine, I've read a reasonable amount of philosophy, it's just that I've seen a lot of people it has made sad and it doesn't seem worth it.

it only amkes u sad if you miss the point that philosophy is actually translated as teh art of talking bollocks. dint get me wrong i love talking bollocks and its fun to ask silly questions like WHAT IS A TABLE! and realise u cant answer the fucker but if u took it seriously ud be fucked cos ud never know anything there would be no point and life would be shit
as wittgenstien wrote "give up philosophy and study poetry" best thing a philosopher ever said imo!

heres a secret about philosophy - make it rhyme. that way even if your logic is flawed, you will still end up with a lovely poem for the examiner to enjoy.

Yeah, I see it as "good for a giggle" and interesting to think about, but it's no use getting wound up about it ;-)
One of the few practical uses for philosophy I have come across:
I know of an AI firm that used to employ philosophers and train them in LISP programming, to do AI. Apparently easier/cheaper than training existing programmers in
"truths" (which is what you need for AI)!

My wief teaches high school and when an imbecile hands in something that sounds suspiciously coherent she googles an unlikely sounding sentence and usually the imbecile has cut and pasted something right off the web. Sometimes they try to be clever by substituting a word here or there, wow impressive not
"But MISS I did RESEARCH!"
