his beats are great but are a lil boring with a long-end
listening.
i don't have original releases (only mp3s) but i've found
some cds in the shop of the other topic (lol)

well all his cds are quite limited, so if i buy one or two
i won't die
right?

unfortunately he is dead...but he made more than 150 works
°_°

http://pretentious.net/Muslimgauze/disc.htm

he sampled arabian/ oriental beats and made beats
nice ideas but he ruined his concept with that amazing
number of works

"Azzazzin" is magic. No beats, just beautiful fuzz.
i like it best from what i have heard. My friends have
collected 9 mp3 cdrs of his works. Impossible to listen to
all of it.

I heard a couple trax by MG, but regretably I don't know
their titles.

I would agree that the beats are nice though.

i've got about 50 or 60 albums (dll / buy) and i can
understand people who say he ruined the concept...but i
think he's(was) a great artist afterall...he's one of the
last to play with dynamic in his mixes...and he wrote a
whole history about arabian politics against the occidental
uniformisation bulldozer...and in that way he's still
important to me...and for those who don't care about
politic, his music is still very interesting and
unique...and not boring to my ears...he wrote a unique page
in musical history

I love Muslimgauze. I used to have everything (140+ releases
in 256/320 kps mp3) before I lost the lot when my HD
jiggered and died. I'd like to replace them but it's a very
slow process. I've got back maybe half of them now.

All I know is 'The girl with the Persian tulips' , a unique
and very original track.

What did he die from?

Having heard so much about his work, I still have never
checked it out, and with a discography like this it's
difficult to just pick one. What would be a good starting
point? Maybe some of his later works?

i started listening to citadel (and i liked it)

but there are a lot of similar works and beats

pick something on slsk and try

he made some different kind of stuff (even if on the same
register)...
if you like a 'soft' intro to his world, try 'narcotic'
(very sweet sounds)...he made a few records on "extreme"
(for a more "extreme" intro.), 'citadel' is perhaps on it
(don't remember...and can't remember now the titles of the
album i could suggest you...==this is the result of a very
bad memory combinated to a huge discography...)
but try 'beyind the blue mosquee', a 2 cd comp, that is a
very good start point...."olympic female tennis table..." is
also a great record, or "vampire in teheran" ( approx.
titles for the 2 last...)

Thanks for the recommendations, I think I'll just download
all of the ones mentioned and take it from there.

Were many of these released on vinyl? I don't really ever
buy CDs and if I find something I like I will need to hunt
it down on wax...

if i remember right, chapter of purity contains songs from
other albums, so it's a nice collection.

sire - actually , id take a look at his disco
here ..., and start from the beginning !

because in my opinion , he started out great , then declined
from their. i cant stand some of the more recent material.
he did change styles though , with the times. sort of like
how cabvol / richard kirk did. there are some good releases
scattered throughout , a very hit or miss artist. i respect
him thouroughly though , a huge catalog and a cool person
seemingly. a shame he was stricken with that fungus or
whatever it was. sick

I have ~5 gig MG and think he is genious- its all
downloaded so I cannot recommend an album per se' but "Uzi
Mamhood" and "arab vynyl junkie" is one of my favorite
songs ever.

He was a militant supporter of Palestine and somewhat
anti-semetic and anti-american.
