Richard Devine LA Meltdown

I'm suprised nobody has posted about this yet. Last night
Richard Devine played in Los Angeles. The venue was split
into two areas, with a fancy bar where Telefon Tel Aviv
played and a more stripped down gallery space were Richard
Devine played. Richard played all new tracks, superhardcore
very complicated stuff, everyone was going mad there were a
lot of people dancing around him. He traktored his set on
some very large, very expensive looking keyboard which
looked to have a large full color lcd screen, touchpad, etc.
At the end of his set after everyone had been throughly
worked by his new tracks, he set fire to the keyboard which
went up in a huge blaze. It keep playing his track so then
he took out a baseball bat and beat the hell out of it
shattering keys off. The place was filled with a plasticy
smoke and when the fire died down you could see the keyboard
was half melted. The crowd was going crazy, but then the
owner of the venue went ballistic since they could have
burned the building down and started yelling and pushing
everyone telling them to get out while the other djs were
setup and ready to go. Several people who were putting on
the show tackled the owner and a mini brawl broke out. Some
big security guys rushed in and broke up the fight and
everyone was kicked out of the smoke filled venue at 3am.
Now that is a fucking show!!

on our radio show (during the interview)
that he would be setting something
on fire in L.A. --didn't think he meant
literally!! Crazy!!

We'll have the Digital::Nimbus feat.
R.Devine *LIVE* audio-archive and
pix available soon.. Watch out..

I would like to see this, since he seems very low key and
reserved in interviews.

had a 'fancy bar' you you big fat liar.

this dude played at The Cage here in DFW not too long ago
and he was setting his records on fire while he was
scratching them, pouring beer all over stuff, it was insane

entertaining nonetheless

Richard devine is crazy live... he gets so into it.

Its just playing with computers, but he puts out enough
energy for a metal show... It gets all the girls naked.

Or not, but it could.

someone?

didn't get a keyboard for christmas.

pietro;

also i think the occurence was just really funny because he
was talking about (on your show) that keyboard and that sort
of keyboard technology, how companies are putting the o/s
interfaace on the machines, and then a day later he lights
one on fire and busts it up with a baseball bat.

instrument burning as a performence do you know of?

I didn't mean we should follow rock n roll cliches. But, if
you enjoy your performances consisting of a man on a laptop
looking bored as fuck, doing nothing much in particular (at
least from the audiences' point of view) then all the power
to you.

I'm ready for things to move on a bit.

I just sent this email to Open Labs:

Hello Open Labs,

After viewing the publicity pictures and video of Richard
Devine setting fire, and smashing his Neko with a baseball
bat, I have come to the conclusion that you have a surplus
of these wonderful keyboards that you are willing to get rid
of. So, to that effect, I am requesting a free Neko from
you, as I could get much more use from it.

My address is:

xxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxx

Ill be waiting patiently. Thank you.
