no anal love,
no love.

why do you make mix tapes so often? I won't ever show
people I know my music, unless they come over and then they
just have to fucking listen to it. I get asked now and then
and say something stupid.

Yes because she will be able to easily differentiate those
two tracks from the other tracks.

wouldnt stop praising my good taste.... I am so far from
reality that it scares me

this place lets me enjoy the music I love with poeple that
have a very similar taste

but in real life I deal with people who havent ever heard of
autechre, or aphex (being them the most famous)
I love to take this music to those people

to do multi-genre mix cds requires consummate skill...

i'd show them first when I'm around them, so it would never
make sense to put together a disc for them, because by the
time I actually determined it's worth my time to waste
theirs, i'd know what they wanted; I wouldn't do it if they
didn't really want it.

He'd would play the motherfuckers the music while he was
with them, which means the nigga wouldn't do no mix disc for
them because having been with them when they heard the music
he would know exactly what they liked and as they might not
like the music it would be a waste of everyones time
involved in producing the mix.

no i was just referring to how Tolst said that you had to
much electronic music on there... all i meant was that it's
tough to mix genres without doing a sucky job of it... so
it's probably better to just stick with a nice electronic
mix...

no offence intended mesieurs...

I think you are asking a lot of her by putting handthrow and
steinbolt on there. Also, Do You Know is a bit cheesy for an
introduction to Squarepusher. And Fantasia has pr0n samples
in it.

you can just as well pick your favourite tunes and put them
together...although if you want a proper mix the selection
should be much more thorough.

well yeah, i guess it depends who you're giving it to...
since most people make the most unbelievably chunky mix cds
and don't seem to care... for example:

50cent-in da club
-P.I.M.P.
G-Unit-Stunt
Eminem-Lose Yourself
Nickleback-You Remind Me
Papa Roach-Last Resort
Elton John- Candle in the Wind
Queen-We Are the Champions
(some random trance song)
(some random trance song)
(some random trance song)
Outkast- BoB
-Hey Ya
-I Like the Way You Move

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2005-01-14 20:40 [#01459828]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

that 2nd 'some random trance song' really doesn't fit
inthere. IMO

I made this mix CD for a girl at work a few years ago:

Autechre - Cap.IV
Jim O'Rourke - Memory Lane
Sluta Leta - You Know What I Mean!
Req - Soul Plot
Aphex Twin - Kesson Dalef
Aphex Twin - Ziggomatic 17
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Steal Softly Thru Snow
Autechre - Pen Expers
Miles Davis - Spanish Key

I gave it to her right before she went to Australia for two
months. She didn't really say anything about the CD when she
came back so I assumed she didn't like it. Then a year and a
half later she suddenly said: "I listened to that CD you
gave me and I get it now". So I was all like:
"Bitchin'!!!!!!111". True story except for the part about me
saying bitchin'. The End.

last november I made a mix cd for 2 friends and none of them
has told me anything about it yet

hahahahaha I asked one of them the other day and he was
like: " I told you to make a mix cd for me of music not of
noise... I didnt expect this"

I told him: the best thing that can happen to you in life is
to be surprised

It's been my experience that girls are not very receptive to
IDM, that is, if they aren't already into that kind of
thing, or it's not a natural evolution. I know one girl who
likes IDM for real, but she's been into it essentially as
long as I have. Aside from her, every chance I've had to
expose girls to it has either been met with 'I like it, it
sounds cool' (worse than saying it sucks), or downright
distaste and flippancy.
I really admire the females on this board.. I know there's a
few. You are definitely a minority. way to be

as for your mix, I love it. A girl that's a friend of
yours? not so sure. some of it seems a bit harsh for
newbies. I wish you the best of luck though, and let us
know what she says!
