Cassini in one hour

The Cassini-Huygens prove will descend onto Saturn's moon Titan
in one hour. This is a really incredible mission, NOT
just because an 8 year trip happened to carry this probe as
auxiliary payload, which was released a month ago and
coasted (power off!) to the moon, but also because there was
a reformatting of the firmware of the local (meaning
on-titan) communications equipment to correct for a
(fortunately found) bug.

I hope I'll wake up and see the internet bustling with
success stories, but even if something messes up it's
already impressive. I think space exploration is one of the
crowning achievements of man; it so clearly shows our desire
for progress and solutions to the unknown.

Yeah it's interesting shit.

I hope we come in contact with Aliens before I die. And
*fingers crossed* it would be even better if there was some
sort of Galactic war..

FUCK@@!

they're probably ignoring us.

think about it: there are a countless number of places in
the universe where life could have evolved billions of years
before us. Holy shit what stage are they at now?

hey epohs, did you see those touched up venus snapshots?
Russian probes took crappy pictures and a computer scientist
cleaned them up a few years back (it was on slashdot.. let
me find them.. here you are, dude

yeah i saw that. totally amazing.

i wish i could read a history book written in the year 2100,
to see what kind of awesome things we are going to find out.

well, unfortunately the big changes are going to be on earth
(not so much space), though I must admit all this noise
about privatization of space (spurred by the x-prize, now
bezos) REALLY took me by surprise. So this estimate of mine
fortunately sounds wrong.

yes, we live in interesting times.
