So, cubase don't work anymore on my computer for some crazy
stupid reason, and I just lost all the work I had been doing
for the past two months, and whenever I get somewhere if
FLP, it shuts down on me, and I don't want to use reason,
cause thats only good for techno and I have a show in less
than two weeks. I am fucked.

I only have to have about 18 minutes of music... the rest is
going to be all drones done in reaktor and some other
generative programs, but I don't like this nogoodness :(

yeah i see ; well i kinda encountered such a problem last
week ; i had to choose music to play for a party and 3 days
before i catched a virus and i had to reformat my computer ;
i lost practically all my mp3's ! i was panicked but i went
to bed and the morning after i decided not to panic and dl
some music ; i did that for two days just before the party
and finally i got back a lot of music i had lost (in fact it
was dance music, all he other electronica undanceable music
are safe on another computer ;-) )

good luck

why's cubase not working?

Version 2.3

It says their is a plugin missing, and to reinstall it. I
uninstalled, reinstalled, and even tried downloading the
pluggin from another user, and placing it in its appropriate
directory, and none of them worked. I uninstalled all the
software I had loaded since it last worked, and still
nothing.

I am just going to bit the bullet and make music under less
than comfortable circumstances... use substandard software.
Its still dissapointing tho...

a total reformat might help, if you want to go to the
trouble.

i feel your pain
hope it turns ok

one of the reasons why i quit making music on computers,
unstable, can't trust the fuckers..

that really depends on your computer, which program and how
legal the used program is, I think.

I've had little problems in the last few years.

yes
very true true

that was not the biggest reason for me, but the only one
that fitted this context...

what are you using now then?

I don't really need to format, and I don't want to spend
another week installing everything and getting it running
like I had to when I got this computer. I use a lot of
programs, but only have 3 sequencers I am really comfortable
with.

I just think I need to get a more legitimate version of
cubase. I have a feeling the program stopped registering the
plug after the year turned over for some reason or another.

But the soundcard comes first...

guitar, organs, a cellist, a violinist, effects...
+ a 4track machine at the moment, should get something
decent to record with in the future.

I'd love to go back to basics, just dont have the players.

Been learning about digital audio theory for my degree, and
its got so many 'convenient' drawbacks... *rants about the
bonuses of analog*

heh
but hey,
computers are so easy, cheap and fast. really.
but jhmm; with instruments you can do things that you can't
with programs and vice versa. (ofcourse there is the
combination of both also.)
i want to actually play music too, its great.

hey you play guitar too, right?
is it possible that i remember a song from you.. something
like, a guitar and a room... it was good..
or am i confusing you with someone else?

yeah... unfortunately with digital, audio quality is left
behind for convenience's sake.

a guitar and a room... hmm, might need something more
specific, heheh.

ohh i found it, i still have it on this pc, and it's by you!
it's called room41... i don't think there's a guitar, but
anyway.. it's nice, soft.. strange how memory works when you
least expect.

heh :) yep... well room41 was my old music room at school -
a small and tenuous link to guitars. but hey...

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2005-01-05 00:21 [#01445803]

heh... I donno. I would see myself as being limited if I
were just to use hardware and a 4 or 8 track. I can get some
pretty lush stuff out of the computer that I have here...

I just can't get it to work. Now I am stuck with fruityloops
the way I remember it. Closing right when you don't expect
it (only for those special occasions that you forget to save
your progress every ten minutes), or cutting out cause you
accidentally added too much resonance to one of your
filters...

sounds like something bad is going on if cubase and fruity
won't run AND you've lost your work...
i would backup as much as possible and format the lot. at
least you'll have a more stable system then. you don't want
your computer to crash at the show...
good luck

Well, fruity never has been good with running. Certain
plugins that have a really lush sound aren't exactly stable
in it.

Cubase is an anomoly.
