he's from Law and Order, an American show about cops in New York. it's an excellent shows, one of the few things i can stand to watch on TV.
he played a been-there-done-that kind of cop. i think he was also an alcoholic on the show.
anyways, 2004 has claimed a lot of famous people. this should be called the year of death..

you could be right, but more because now the deathcount in Asia has risen to 77.000 people (which will most probably rise up to about 100.000, so the Red Cross organisation fears), than because of a few celebrity deaths.

I read an interview in a Dutch paper yesterday, with a Dutch scientist, saying that they could have quite easily predicted the tsunami without that pacific tsunami warning center - just using the data they were already gathering anyway.
only thing they actually miss is a means to verify "duds" in this process.

you mean dud tsunamis? well if thats the case, 100,000 dead vs inconvenience - will be the outcome of this for sure.

yes but the problem here is that there are so many dud readings from seismograph stations - the only action they can call for is evacuation....
So how would you like it if your city was forcibly evacuated bi- or tri-monthly?
It's just not as simple as "100,000 dead vs inconvenience"... the science needs to be perfected before it can be applied.
