maybe the best television-programme ever.
in the first episode, typical 20-year-old metal-guy standing in front of his extremely white family, sitting in their ugly as fuck livingroom, saying: "..so.. umm.. I got picked to go..."
long silence.
mother: "we're so proud of you", hardly looking up.

they all suck!!
which is why it's great to see most of them take themselves so seriously.

it's a new (well.. new to Europeans..) MTV-programme in which 8 heavy metalbands fight it out for a spot on Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest (yearly heavy metal festival).
the judges/supposed organisers are Sharon and Ozzy.
it's filled with angry youngsters, trying to look angry, young and metally, but in fact it is as bad if not worse than ANY other reality-programme.
like I have said, the inevitable downfall follows for the persons who take themselves too seriously.
fun!

i caught up on this show quite a bit last night/this morning.
there was some sort of marathon of all the past episodes around 2 in the morning. i watched what i think was all of the ones i've missed so far.
one of my favorite moments is when Ahmad calls his girlfriend and she says "I was drunk. I kissed someone."
Oh the drama. So sad, yet so inspiring to my future nu-metal career.

did it stop round episode 7?
that has been the last episode I've been able to find a torrent for (they're showing it on MTV Europe too, but too slow - it's like popcorn, you eat and eat and eat and eat and eat).
I really can't believe they're falling for some of Ozzy's blatantly obvious pranks (the bat-biting thing, the investigation thing). either these guys are REALLY dumb or it's a big fake. like every "reality show".

there are three people left right now and on the next episode they each get to play on stage with their own bands. actually i think that's going to be the last episode. best band wins.
i'm not sure how many there were before that. seven may be right, but that does seem a bit short.
the investigation one was pretty obvious, especially when he acted all crooked with the one girl. the bat one is the only one i think i've missed.

aye i just looked it up and the last episode aired was 10, so 11 will be the deciding episode for who wins. not sure if that'll be the end though.

Reality Programming has gone through the entire genre cycle with the lampoonig Joe Schmo show symbolizing it's feeding on itself... previously prime time shows such as THE BACHELOR and TEMPTATION ISLAND now playing side by side with daytime soaps... either the end is nigh or it will settle into a niche of it's own...unless something truly dispicible grabs the media and public attention (I am thinking THE SWAN) though the next step from that will have to do with Death and dead bodies...

don't forgot 'My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss' and 'Who's my Daddy?'
Both brought to us by lovely FOX broadcasting. The second one hasn't premiered yet, me thinks.

it's all propped and smeared like every other Reality TV show.
i still await the day when reality TV vanishes and is replaced with something a little more real:
mass executions in China televised on Pay-per-view for the low price of $29.99.
