This never really caught on. The only advantage is surround mixing, which has incredible potential, but requires you to sit in the middle of the speaker array but not many people have a surround setup. Devine said he was interested in doing a surround album, but aside from curiosities like that appealing to a niche of audiophiles, it hasnt and wont catch on. Also, ketchup and jesus. Together. You're going to have to explain what a SACD is. The only thing I can think of to fit that acronym would be "Standard Audio CD". If that is what you're referring to, the answer to your question is no. |

Super Audio CD. yes, now you too can rebuy your complete cd-collection, but at higher quality that you'll hardly be able to notice anyway. I believe these are pretty much the same as a dvd, you can't play the "super audio" version on normal stereos. |

I'm not sure if they do have surround. With surround mixing for DVD's, the artist specifically mixes the elements around. So in stead of normal left/right panning, you could have elements of the song swirling around you. It would be cool if Richard Devine actually does decide to do a surround DVD. |

yes, I know what surround is (in fact, I have made a piece of music with a friend of mine which we mixed into a surround version about 6 months ago). Devine has done live stuff with four speakertowers, also about 6 months ago. COINCIDENCE!?? yes. |

thing is, they are really pushing SACDs, reissueing old "classics" like the Stones and Blob Dylan, specifically remixing to surround versions. it's pretty clear which market they're going for - the well-to-do fiftysomething male. and NIN-fanzoids. |

i have a (who has never posted, which is probably a good thing because i'm scared on my online life colliding with real life) who has been caught listening to pink floyd's dark side of the moon on SACD in complete darkness. he has a thing for surround sound. pig destroyer recently put out a dvd/audio/surround cd thingy. i'm still waiting for that plaid dvd. |

I have bjork's new album on SACD. Joke's on me, I only have 2 speakers. Venetian Snares made some stuff in 12.1 surround a while back, God knows what that sounds like. |
