Interesting question. I have always been boucing around
genres. My attention span is horrid. I listened to aphex for
the first time in like 1 year and it was great and
enjoyable!!

its going through a bad patch.

something new will evolve. music is a progressive movement.

" music is a progressive movement."

It should be...
Look at pop music, progressive pop... o_0
But about the eletronic stuff, can emerge some fashions like
"eletroclash" was...

well electronic music has a come along way, since four
germans made beeps from machines, and they got rid of vocals
from disco to make house music.

i dont think pop really counts. its not about music its
about money & image as we all know. pop music wil only
evolve & adapt to fashion &trends, but its usually the alt
music that creates trends & fashions like you say...

i haven't listened to any idm in a year but lately i can
again enjoy some classic afx or ae tracks. nowadays i mostly
listen to classical music, that 'genre' is so incredibly
wide that you'd need several lifes to go through it. i'm
totally amazed by the level of quality and musical
originality in all the small niches
