Music defenitly would. Drugs..... almost have nothing to do with it, I mean they were there with a lot of artists and groups yes... tahts true. But it didnt make them write what they did. Unless they were like Skinny Puppy, they would write 1 album while on Heroin, and then another album while coming down off of Heroin to see what it sounded like.
For the most part, it doesnt really matter. I guess you could look at it like the drugs effected the persons{s} and they changed, whilst their music changed. But you cant really tell, unless you know them personally, or are them.
Probably, its a matter or interpretation, do you think it changes people and their tunes?
But to simply answer your question: yes music would exist without drugs.

of course music would exist withought drugs! even GOOD music would.. there is plenty of good music thats not influenced by drugs
i think even good musicians that are influenced by drugs have to be talented in the first place anyway

Alright. lets now shift to a more enlightening discussion.
What is the BEST record to trip out to. by trip i dont mean acid only. i'm talking all kinds of highness.
especially weed. cause it seems about the only shit i can get my hands on anymore.
me personally, i had a very good experience with "in a beautiful place" by BOC.
Also, cylobian sunset. Plaid is good too. id say disc 1 trainer. the only "harder stuff that didnt annoy me(ie, squarepusher, bogdan etc), was "feed me weird things".
my mind was deconstucting every single little sound in every one of those songs. brilliant.

hmm... i was totally bombed by some nuggets when i listen to mouse on mars - instrumentals... wow that was a great album. the way they brough all the sounds together, i was in retro videogame land. very nice "trip"... i'm sure even "shitty" music would sound quite interesting on any triptomatic substance, drugs just compliment music so well.

their early stuff i don't really like... instrumentals i think is their best album. it's more in the experimental flavor of things (lush as hell).
once my firend and i tried to listen to captain beefheart - trout mask replica high, damn had to turn it off. i can handle "intense" stuff high though, usually blows my mind.
