I really have some sirious trouble choosing the right studio monitors!
I just want a flat sound, can that be so difficoult? I´m thinkin of Genelec 8030A but it´s quite expesive, what about Tapcos or whatever monitors in the price class, under the genelecs, what is worth spending on?

they tend to make recordings sound better than they are, I don´t trust them, they can also broke with too much bass or noise...

this is so subjective that i recommend to get out there and try them out. i always thought that i wanted genelecs because i heard them at various places and thought they were perfect for me, until i tried them out together with mackies. suddenly the genelecs were way to harsh for me....

well, there aren't any speakers which are truly authentic. pro's listen to different speakers for reference to check things out. take a cd with you of which you really know how everything should sound like and try out different monitors with that cd. it's a tough decision, i know... ;)

Unfortunately good sound costs a lot. But you can ask them and tell about your capabilities.

Right, common stereo-shitty-systems has to much bass. And it also has lack of character. What system do you have and what soundcard?

well, hifi speakers often tend to boost the low end. but, tough question.. hm. maybe a good idea is to bring your own music, which you will probably know really well. you know what sounds you put in there, stuff like that.

Sampoo-> I have a sony mini hifi system a hoontech soundcard, a pc, logic 5.5...
alberto-> In the shop the BX8 sounded awfully too bright to mee, compared to the genelecs and mackies... But the Tapcos do sound quite good, has anyone any experience on them?

genelecs and mackies are expensive man. i haven't tried them, but for the price range bx8 are one of, if not the best choice for studio monitors.

bx8 are too big too! Tapco souds better, but haven´t heard much about them...
sampoo->sony mini hifi component system dhc-md373 but what I really want to ask, is if the 8030a are worth spening money on, and do they even sound too good? Maybe stuff wont sound good elsewhere.. and if my monitors don´t got enuff bass, I will put it there, and it wil sound awfull elsewhere... and a subwoofer is too expensive at least a genelec one...

genelecs sound was bigger, and more living... it was quite fantastic on the high, mid end and had a precice bass, but the kicks didn´t soundas punchy as on the sony...

the Mackie 824's are reverse engineered Genelecs. they're the best monitors I've heard for under $1000 a speaker. they go for around $700 each and are worth every penny in my estimation.

Check out the Mackie Tapco S-5's I use em. They're cheap, and their design is a throwback to Mackie's early years. The result is very detailed highs, lows, and mids.
