it's like a vertical based sequencer, were you put in notes and all kinds of code trickery for effects and such. you could to some pretty wild stuff with it. beat programming is really easy and quick, perfect for making drill&bass. it used to be all sample based, no MIDI. you needed no hardware so it was easy and cheap for to make music! the latest trackers are starting to implement MIDI/VST support. i have like hundreds of tracks (finished and unfinished) i made with a tracker (from late '97 to '00), those were the times! there was a big tracker community a few years back. lots of music groups, net labels were releasing mods. i miss those times. i want to get me an old computer, put windows 98 on it and install impulse tracker, the best tracker ever! |
