mwah

First track I have started work on in months...but it might
sound too much like a rip of something else :(

Opinions. Yay or Nay.

It's a bit gantzy grafty, yeah. Maybe rework it into
something less familiar if you can.

its ok its kind of repetitive

it'd be cool if you maybe had it build up to that level and
then went nuts

It's glitchy but, but...but it's got bollocks and I think
that makes the difference. I'd beef UP the "balls" side of
it, i know this flies in the face of the new "Don't tell me
what I should do" criticism, but nonetheless, I'd add even
more THRUST and I think you could have a bit of a beast on
your hands.

Lee,

Please do continue to go at it. After it is finished then
you can add little subtlies that give it flavor

few days and then have another look at it.

Ummmm... Yeah. It sounded neat. Its hard to say with only 40
seconds of audio, but if I were in your shoes, I would
continue working on it. I would be excited.

If people stopped making music just because they were
copying somebody else, aphex and []pusher would have stopped
making music after they realized they were ripping off luke
vibert's plug project.

I didn't intentionally set out to copy Gantz Graf...it just
sort of turned out a little like it, just a hell of a lot
less refined and shit. I dunno if I will bother to continue
working on it because I hate being labelled as an ae copy
because that isn't what I set out to be.

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2004-11-14 15:18 [#01395150]

I think you were subconsciously thinking of me when you
named it. It is quality, just really grating and grainy and
abrasive and stuff. It does sound very gantz graf which is
good if you can replicate that, intentionally or not. Still
I think ep7 and lp5 are less whitenoisy abrasive and less
repetitive and seem to me more thought out with software and
brains and realized as grand intricate unique structures.
bla. Also, due to memetics you can't really avoid being an
ae copy. For example, would the idea ever even have occured
to you to spend time organizing sound if there wasn't
already people like autechre who have done it before you? It
seems like quite a ludicrous pointless idea, which it is I
suppose. oijfs. We are so incompatible. What? Shut up. Yes
please.

offline ambsace from canaDUH. on 2004-11-14 16:23 [#01395210]

yeah, if you gave me two words to describe it i'd say "gantz
graf". but that's okay. because i like gantz graf. so...yes.
continue.

right, the beat is so obviously AE...you could atleast filter
it and program a bit better.
atleast do that when you sample of someones work...the beat
is too transparent.

online big from lsg on 2004-11-15 18:05 [#01396513]

i liked this ae ripoff be the ecnadbeard in
particular back in the day

offline plaster from splitska 10 on 2004-11-15 18:27 [#01396523]
Points: 4173 Status: Regular

this is different...it's obvious that it's not sampled from
AE...but the one thats featured is.
i can't stand that...

Sample? What the fuck are you on about? I haven't sampled
shit mate. Unless by sampled you mean it sounds too similar,
but I can swear hand on heart that not one sound of this
track is taken from Gantz Graf.

offline ecnadniarb on 2004-11-16 11:13 [#01396974]

hmm...I am still wondering what you meant by sampled...

Actually I suppose I should be a little flattered.

offline plaster from splitska 10 on 2004-11-16 11:46 [#01396997]
Points: 4173 Status: Regular

it's not from gantz graf...some other record i can't recall
now..the one that has that beat like someone is walking on
snow.
ok,if you say that you didn't sampled then ok,but it's 100%
like that Ae beat.

Nah, I swear the beat isn't sampled at all, it is all
sequenced hits.

Next you will be saying this is a rip off of the
beginning section of Surripere off Draft 7.30...or
this is a rip off of something else.

:(

Hahah, that 'deadofnight' track does sound like a cover of
Surripere, to be honest. A lot.

However this 'mwah' track does not sound too much like Gantz
Graf, and more like run-of-the mill 'experimental glitch
idmz'. It is not dynamic at all (as Gantz Graf is).

It's all right though. I surely could not create such
musics.

hehe, I was gutted when I heard Surripere after making that
:(

as for the mwah track, it is a very very eary version, I
wasn't trying to say look how great this is blah blah blah,
just whether I should carry it on. Anway now a couple of
days have passed I have decided it's not worth carrying on
and I will just do something else.
