I managed to pick up, for £1, a book entitled The Twilight
Zone Companion, with a biog of Rod Serling, and an episode
guide to Series 1 to 5 of the original show, which leads me
to ask if there are any fans of this show. I know I watch it
whenever I am able, and love it.

hello Paul!

I used to enjoy watching the twilight zone, long, long ago.

I remember this story from the '80s series about a girl in
18th century America having a telepathic link with a man in
modern day America.

Hi Paul, how's it goeing like. Not that big a fan really
myself, in fact I prefer reading about it than I do watching
it. Reading the synopsis or episode guides can be preferable
as some of the old episodes are pretty dated or too
moralistic. The odd cracker is in there now and again of
course. I quite liked the 80's(?) series, haven't seen any
of the new ones. In fact I have a dvd with some supposedly
"awesome" episode on it, might dig that out tonight...

Ah, this book is just about the show from the early 1960s.

was returned as a delivery failure :(

I was just reading yesterday that Bernard Herrmann composed
music for the very first episode.

Having consulted my Companion, I can cofirm that Bernard
Hermann did compose the music for episode one. And
episode three.

One thing that has haunted me throughout my days is Stephen
King - who wrote quite a decent summary of the Zone in Danse
Macabre - stated that Jack Finney (he of Body Snatchers
fame) wrote a book called The Third Level which is
apparently what the Zone could've been if it cut out most of
the crap in it. I still can't get this book, as no fucker on
ebay will post to the UK and amazon's copy was going for
£400 last time I looked.

Heh, I just re-read the first line of this post.

Yeah, I have Danse Macabre somewhere - read it, too, though
I don't recall that book being mentioned, and £400 is a
lotta dough... no sign of an E-book version then?

Nah, too damn obscure. I'll get it one day, probably in a
boot sale off some unknowning knob.

That's how it should be ! Hey, I was thinking the other day,
whilst watching Fletch on DVD, about those Fletch books
you've mentioned before... did you get some, and are they
good ?

Hah, I almost watched Fletch the other day again :D I only
managed to get the first one, although you can get them all
reissued from Amazon now. I thought it was a good read - it
expanded upon the storyline which was compressed quite a lot
for the movie and while it isn't Chase-style funny, it does
have it's moments, especially the ending. I was trying to
get the lot in one bundle to save costs, might have another
look around soon. Btw I just found a paperback Third Level
for $3.25!

Looks like it - I'll have to get a postage estimate but as
long as it's not too much I'm gonna AVE it

I am still currently reading The 120 Days of Sodom (when I
have the chance)... however, my girlfriend has half-inched
it from me to read it herself as she was dipping into it -
it is an addictive book - I think you'd like it :D

Always put off reading Sodom after my illiterate mate kept
reading bits of it to me in a Beavis voice, "Huh-huh, look,
they're fucking.". I'll probably get round to it. I really
should get a new book soon, I haven't read anything since
DT7...

I'm off to lunch now, pub's a-calling.
