I thought this was going to have something to do with
fingering, frankly I'm a little disappointed

Matmos: Hey look a chair! Are you thinking what Im thinking?
Yes! Lets record every possible noise it can make and create
a song from it!

matmos and people like us are awesome.

this cover of do they owe us a living sucks, i'm afraid.
out of step sounds weird, but i'm not into it. the other
sample just sounds like disco to me. basically, this is
like sucking all the good elements out of punk songs and
making them lifeless and cheesy... or is this a joke?

not a joke at all...it's cheesy, but in a good way :)

i didn't mean to sound harsh... but i don't like this at
all.

have you heard the original versions of these songs? if
not, that would certainly lend itself to our differing views
of these cover tracks.

i don't think i heard the originals, no...
and i can take it harsh :)

i think, as the article alludes to, there is a clear element
of parody in this music. re-arranging one form of music
into it's polar opposite is an obvious swipe at the
original. re-contextualizing the words in the way the songs
are sung strips away their original meaning and renders them
ironic.

so, i can't possibly enjoy this, because it's a (perhaps
mean-spirited) parody of music i love.

that's what i find weird..why would he make fun out of good
songs?
usually silly pop songs are used for that..
i like this though..as i said above, it's much like a
'chance to cut..', and that one is my favourite matmos
album.

I like it a lot. Really nice dancey stuff. I don't think
he's poking fun at any of the original tunes, just
presenting the vocals with a completely different musical
accompaniment, which I suppose lightens the tracks but all
in the name of good fun and booty shaking.

nothing wrong with poking fun and, indeed, most punk bands
did have a good sense of humor. but it's so deliberate
here...

hmm.. not bad.. I'm not a big fan of stuff like what's on
the first sample, but the other ones were pretty funky...

I don't like it as much as the first album, which is, quite
simply, clims.
