I think i may have posted a thread about this before, but
since the search function is out of action, i may as well
clog up the board some more.

Originally i thought the closest reference point would be,
umm, like, confield with a free-jazz structure or something.
But upon reflection, i have conceived of another way of
looking at it.

Imagine that richie hawtin, russel haswell and john zorn
were in a horrific car crash. Imagine that a discredited
scientist with a background of ketamine abuse drove past the
horrible wreck, and thought it would be fun to put their
mangled brains into a food processor, attach electrodes to
the resulting pinkish goop, and plug them into a self-aware
casio keyboard. The music created would be quite similar.

Time-signature-ignoring, constantly mutating, generally
rather fucked-up instant claustrophobia. This album is
amazing.

AMAZING.

Apparently there's another planet-mu-released album for the
fellow in january. I, for one, cannot wait.

Hmm. I was going to post links from the planet mu
discography, but the site seems to be set up through some
kerayzee non-html thing, so i can't. Go to the discography
section and the phthalocyanine releases are ziq019 and
(pending) ziq096. They have 96kbps-quality samples there.

Phthalo records is here though. The dude behind
phthalocyanine owns the record company. They have many many
fine releases.

"Pink Shark"
LOL
It's the new "Pork Sword"
I think I'll start using that one.

Phthalocyanine, along with several artists on the Phthalo
label, is one of the most innovative and artistically-aware
artists producing music today. I totally agree with you..
amazing release.
If you like this, try to track down the 'Navy Warship' LP as
well, if you haven't already. Similar sounding stuff,
equally as good.

amazing album, heard it for the first time about 6 weeks ago
whilst tripping on mushrooms and it'd fitted my mental state
perfectly

i really like it alot , it is so unique and out there, with
all the lovely bad quality sound i like

but i'm not sure if this is so "artistically-aware", i mean
what is not?
it doesn't really have good aestethical value, it is not
beautiful, it is just art that can only be enjoyed by a few
people who can stand the noisyness of it all
a real critique might be totally destroying it for it's
artistical value

i don't know what i'm trying to say, it's just the comment
"artistically-aware" that stuck in my mind as being nonsense
:p
