i don't know the yamaha rm1x. i often use an akai mpc4000
and i must say i regret the fact that i don't use it more. i
find that sequencing with the mpc is a lot more easy and
more (although i hate using the term like this) intuitively
than with the software sequencer which i use (nuendo).

but, what do you want to do with it, actually?

that's a good question ! :D i'm just sick of staring in my
monitor making all my sound on a pc...

i would want to get into hardware a bit. such a sequencer
would be a good start... i think.

the only really prolbme is that i cannot load my own samples
into the rm1x...

my question is just... can i bind the rm1x to some synth, so
it will play it ??

here's a link to a review... but i cannot find anything
about it !!SOS

tell me - can you wire your akai to your computer and use a
software sampler for example ? just curious...

"tell me - can you wire your akai to your computer and use a

well, the akai IS a sampler (and also a sequencer) so I
don't need a software sampler next to it. but via midi i can
control whatever receives midi, so in theory it would be
possible.
i'll post a track i did partly with the mpc.
for now, check this site.

oh, i already have a track up with some mpc stuff in it.
it's not the track i had in mind, but it'll do.

for the beginning it would be quite cool... i would use the
pc with kontakt as a sampler for my first songs.... and
afterwards buy a hardware sampler... or is this a bad idea ?
:D

i don't know, that's up to you. you would still be making
the sounds on your computer though ;)
for me, the layout of the yamaha rm1x doesn't do much for
me. too messy.. but if you think it beats sequencing on your
computer, then go for it. be sure to check out the
limitations of it though, make sure you don't grow out of it
too fast...

lang lee sounds awesome - but tell me how much and how did
you u use the mpc ? for sequencing ? or just samples ??

"grow out of it too fast" - that's my point u know... i make
really complex beats lately on my pc - and something like
this might be a step back in my music... that's why i'm
asking people about it... maybe i find out something else.

it costs new 3000 zloty in poland - that's hm... divided by
4... 750 dollars...

i can get it for half that prize - nearly unused...

i'm a bit jealous cause my friend bought a yamaha su 700 for
1700 dollars last week... sequencer + sampler + live mixer +
fuck hell knows in one box... shit :/

thanks, i did the sequencing of the "drum sounds" and the
melody line on the mpc. i also used the sampler of the mpc a
bit. however, it's been treated a lot afterwards...
i don't know how complex you can go with the rm1x... maybe
you can go to a music store and try one out. the price
sounds pretty fair though. (there are always people who have
had better deals, it's frustrating, i know)
maybe this forum can help you out...

thanks alot... i can tell you that i would never guess that
this lange song was made on a sequencer like this... really.
i thought such complex beat s are only possible on pc's. one
point more for the rm1x...
