i'm thinking of getting a mac to use in conjuction with my mpc, but i'm not sure what benefits, if any, i would recieve (aside from owning a mac).

it wouldn't,that's the point...you could only expand your capabilities.
btw,i have a good connection for mac's in the US if you want to buy one.
it's cheaper than this price
