awfully late, I know, but I only recently got my hands on a
copy of their last cd "sung tongs" - in fact, the first of
theirs I have ever heard..

it's brilliant! reminds me of The Books in a good way, but
at the same time so very different. I love the singing, the
subtle processing going on in the background.

absolutely brilliant.

I haven't heard of this. Because you say it is reminiscent
of The Books... I will check INTO it.

it's their third album, so I feel very silly and late and
out of it.

I think you'd like it, Jon. I'm almost sure of it. you can't
ever be sure. the way people keep flip-flopping these days.

Hell fucking yes, Animal Collective are the shit. My
favorite by the Collective alternates between Sung Tongs and
"Here Comes the Indian" depending on my mood. Also, be sure
to check out their first record "Spirit They've Left Us,
Spirit They're Gone" as well a Collective member Panda
Bear's new solo album (an absolutely haunting little
record).

i also just recently checked out animal collective, sung
tongs to be exact. it's very impressive. i also heard black
dice's creature comforts and panda bear's new one, and both
were just ok, though i will give them another try.

Panda's record is sort of a slow burn - an aquired taste
maybe. Very quiet and ritualistic in a way. The more time I
have spent with it the more I come to love it.

that's encouraging news, because most of my favorite albums
had to grow on me. have to learn to appreciate it, ya know?

I know it; ALL of my top five records of all time I did
not like the first few times I heard them.

PS definitely check out Here Comes the Indian if you
hadn't... definitely a different side of them, but equally
worthy...
