Is a great single, and a great song. When they stop making
turgid "rawk anthems", they've got a few excellent tunes up
that thar sleeve. This is one of them, and it actually gives
me those back-of-the-neck chills that i know it shouldn't.

But somehow, i don't feel guilty.

Why feel guilty about it? It is the power of music no matter
where it comes from. It is all special.

: )

You definitely win the most earnest post of the night award,
fo' sho' :D

I guess it's just the stadium-rawk daytime-MTV2
lighters-in-the-air associations the foo fighters conjure
up. But still, i really do love this song.

Also -----> yes, <3 nirvana indeed.

I would say "NO !" if i was feeling more sure of myself
right now, but i'm going to go with a term less loaded with
Ex El Tronic His To Ree.

*ahem*

No. I quite like his voice.

As vacuous a response to the media circle jerk that is 9-11
as could be conceived by MTV2 buggerists.

The song isn't too bad when he's singing softly. I feel it
kind of gets ruined when he does that growly halfway-yell
under-his-breath sort of thing towards the end. But then
again, I think there are two versions of the song, for some
reason, and I don't know which I am talking about.

I heard the intro to the new Green Day song, something like
"I don't want to be another fucktard American", and I had to
turn it off, it was as if irony had been raped over a barbed
wire mattress. There's only SO much I can take.

the origional version of good riddance, which was on the
brain stew single (which came in a brain shaped cd) was very
good but then they made it all hollywood with a string
section

And they keep playing on the TV Avril Lecanadian doing her
cover of "Do you have the time, to listen to me whine", as
if Satan wants to put the pubic hair garnish on the shit
soufle.

They have become the antithesis of punk.

them and break them.

I'd get very close to hitting it, naked - spreadeagled -
strawberries - massage oil - bad hollywood sex close, and
then spit in her homogenized face.

I have SOME dignity left.

I didn't say they were. But they were known by the
masses as being punk. They were, sort of, spokespersons for
the 90s revival of punk-sounding music which directly and
cheerfully went against everything the music once stood for.

Are you saying it's now Punk to be willfully Corporate?

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2004-10-11 16:39 [#01359812]
Points: 4428 Status: Addict

theres two kinds of punk, neither of which exists anymore.
music that vaguely resembles punk rock, and music that
actually is punk. green day weren't either one.

offline idle interloper on 2004-10-11 16:43 [#01359821]
Points: 418 Status: Lurker

I'd say most other types of music now have more of a punk
attitude than most of the popular music that willfully is
called punk.
