all i've ever used was microsoft m.e. it is so lacking in effects all it does is scene transitions which fucking sucks. hopefully this one you recommended is in slsk.

final cut pro is friggin rediculous. the sheer amount of shit you can do with that program far outwieghs the very steep learning curve. only other program ive edited on is iMovie *hurls chunks*

i use both Final Cut 4HD (on a Mac) and Premiere Pro on my Pc. They basically do the same thing and if your running them on a decent computer both are stable. Final cut has a good composite mode thing going on while premiere has the neat ability to export as filmstrip. Shake on the mac is cool for effects.

i used windows movie maker 2.1 (which will automatically install with the windows updates)
its fun and easy to use, but i warn you, and heed my warning.
if you ever wanna make a dvd or vcd with the films you make with windows movie maker, forget about it. nothing, and i mean NOTHING is FUCKING COMPATIBLE WITH WMFUCKINGV FILES!!!!!!!!!
sorry, its just that this is a major issue surrounding my work and deadlines lately.
