jetgroove.com (illegal mp3 site?) spread the news.. this is NOT GOOD for labels/artists.. check it out.. word has been going around about http://jetgroove.com with regards to their possible illegal practice of distributing 1000's of mp3's with no contracts/licensing. do a check for yourself, scan for those artists and labels you love, but [b]do NOT[/b] send them the $20 activation costs for purchase!! there's a lot more details all over the lists and forums and legal action is underway.. p. |

the first article basically sums it up. most of those mp3s are not licensed. when you try to buy them, you get a message that the requested mp3 is "on hold", it gets put on a wishlist. when the artist decides to sign the licensing agreement, it can then be bought. that isn't necessarily bad. what is bad, is that the buyer has already paid $20 by this time. so the idea is that this is just a scheme to gather up a nice stack of twenties and fuck right off. now, people like you and I would never pay a $20 subscription for a site like this, we just steal our mp3s through slsk, but it's always nice to clamber up unto a moral highground and look down upon. |
