I went for a nice walk just after dusk tonight. i had The Doors on my mp3 player -- I walked along Auchmill Road,then up a side street, which had a path leading off it. This ran parallel to a golf course on a hill, and led to some farm buildings - There was a single orange light, making it seem like a stage - I sat down and made some notes in my notebook about a girl, F. Then I continued on my way... I came to the end of that path, which stopped by a small urban section where there was a lakelet and ducks. Then I went down another track, at which point The End came on, and I was walking through almost darkness, which a canopy of trees blocking out the little moonlight there would have been. I felt the energy of the trees protecting me as the Doors played through my head.It was awesome. Yesterday I did the same route with a girl, F, and it was equally, if not slightly more, awesome. Point: Leaving the Interweb for the Outerweb and taking a walk can be great. |

I used to walk for hours and hours and hours in the winter cold. No walkman, no music. Just walking. Used to come home knackered, not refreshed as such but just very "blanked out". It's a good thing sometimes. Motha Fucka: i'm not exactly the expert on how to dig yourself out of depression, but the only advice i can give is to keep busy with pointless tasks that stop you thinking. When you're busy it's harder to focus on the things that make you miserable. |

In my experience it's good to have something to distract you for awhile, THEN it's time to do the whole soul-searching thing. When you don't feel like it will kill you. I'm in the soul-searching phase right now, wanky as it sounds. Drinking less, painting more, thinking a LOT more. But i needed that intermission. For Shure. |
