say hello to black jack.
went through "ultra gash inferno" by suehiro maruo again the other day.....uhm, .....highly recommended for sensitive people, uhm...eh?.
i'm thinking of reading "jimmy corrigan" by chris ware, again. it strikes me as one of the only comic books that ever made me sob a bit.... during this bit were he is mocked at school and and of anger throws his shitty little horse figure out in the and then suddenly realises what he's done and cries as he goes to rescue his only friend. or something. yes i'm gay.

say hello to black jack is great, on the hospital life.the tilte is a nod to a series also on the medical world by osamu tezuka (a sort of manga-god).

Fuckin' ell, jimmy corrgian is amazingly amazing. Probably the best comic-thingy i've ever read. I was going to do my english lit final essay on it, comparing it to james joyce's "dubliners", but the motherfucking exam board wouldn't let me.
You ever read "quimby the mouse"? It's equally as good, and equally as heart-wrenching. I LOVE Chris Ware.

It's possibly even more obsessively-drawn than Jimmy Corrigan, if that's possible. It took me months to take it all in. It's a truly beautiful thing, one of the best pieces of art i've seen in maybe a year. And i don't say that lightly.
DEEPSPACE SEAL OF APPROVAL and all that.

you know that there are two versions of it right? : )
one with a good ending and one with a bad ending, but which leads to Gunnm Last Order.... i'm not sure how it is in the u.k. but in france the bad ending version is in 6 large volumes and the good ending version is in 9 standard volumes.
i'm not exactly sure of that, but the bad ending version might be in fact the good version cut off at a particular point....

lone wolf and cub 2100: i'm surprised that i like this at all considering the original is my favorite manga ever. its pretty well drawn, decent writing, overall entertaining. not a candle on the first lone wolf, but good.
