acyl18 from the other places on 2002-01-22 08:04 [#00073398]

so who's experienced with the psychtropic substances? which
ones? experiences?

m on 2002-01-22 08:06 [#00073399]

doom2, street fighter 2, sonic the hedgehog

Xanatos from NYC on 2002-01-22 08:30 [#00073408]

lsd, psilocybin (mushrooms). Many experiences, many
revelations.

Although I have pretty much entirely quit doing drugs
(including pot), I am still looking to do a controlled LSD
session with some close friends, a little bit like the "Acid
Tests" done in the 60s. I have not really found the right
setting, nor the right people who want to do it for the
right reasons (personal and spiritual exploration) yet...I'm
not going to do it nonchalantely like I have in the past.
If you live (or want to come to the) NY area to do this
let me know:)...music would of course be an essential
part of it.

m on 2002-01-22 08:34 [#00073412]

if you want to come to my hut and play sonic the hedgehog,
you're not invited because the time you spend playing could
be spent playing myself.

Xanatos from NYC on 2002-01-22 08:35 [#00073415]

funny stuff,

funny, funny stuff.

acyl18 from the other places on 2002-01-22 08:49 [#00073422]

similar to Xanatos, but pretty much all lsd.... a LOT of it.
I'm a different person now, with all manner of new neural
pathways mosaiced through my brain, and I am grateful for
it! It's been a while now, though.... we'll see what the
new year brings, eh? By the way, this is why I post as
being from the other places.... the person I am today has
been educated deeply by those places! ;)=

wizards teeth on 2002-01-22 09:54 [#00073439]

does lsd allow you to think in new ways ?

ie - does it alter the structure of the brain ?

jand from Essex on 2002-01-22 10:05 [#00073440]

yep, I think most people who take Acid are different people
afterwards...I really don't think you can go though such an
extreme experience and not be changed...

wiz, if you want a great read about LSD & it's history have
a look at Tom Wolfes The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test...its
the story of Ken Kesey (better known as the writer of One
Flew Over the Cuckoos nest) & his early experiments with LSD
& subsequent adventures with the Merry Pranksters....(It's
the best bit of US History!!!)..

X - I dig the idea of reviving the Acid Tests!!! Wish I was
over in NYC...:(

wizards teeth on 2002-01-22 10:38 [#00073446]

I have always wanted to try it but i am scared it may cause
damage

I like the idea of altering the internal structure of the
brain to allow for new methods of thinking

Is there not a risk that it could all go pear shaped ?

I dont think it is worth the risk, as I like to be sane

jand from Essex on 2002-01-22 11:12 [#00073450]

Could it go pear-shaped?...mmm, if you've already got mental
health problems then yep, Acid could cause you
problems...but from what I know of you, I doubt you'd have
any worries...I messed up a couple of trips in the past by
being overly anxious & worried (easily solved by getting
some Valium or other Benzodiazephene down your neck)...

At lot of the problems with LSD can be worked around by
ensuring you know what you're up to and don't go into the
experience with no idea of what to expect or with people you
don't know or trust...

For a first timer, it may be a good idea to trip with
someone more experienced you really really trust...some
people recommend having a trip nanny (someone who isn't
tripping) to keep an eye on things, deal with the day2day
things and comfort anyone who needs it..

Its a good idea to find out more or do a bit of reading
beforehand if you are a little nervous...that Acid Test book
is a good starter...Theres some good sites on the Net with
trip stories etc...

Having said all that, it's an experience I'd recommend...

jand from Essex on 2002-01-22 11:15 [#00073451]

"I like the idea of altering the internal structure of the
brain to allow for new methods of thinking"....

I'm not sure if it actually alters the internal structure of
your brain much beyond the trip itself i.e. you won't find
yourself going from a idiot to a genius...

It's more like....a goldfish in a bowl, thinking the whole
world IS the bowl, suddenly being put into the Sea & seeing
the world anew...

Not the greatest analogy...but kinda close..

cool experience reports.

I'd experienced some psychadelic dugz,
but in nowadays I like lucid dreaming (or astral projection,
oobe), and for me this is True psychadelic experience, with
nearly clear, lucid mind without any chemical.

canerfold from minneappleseed on 2002-01-23 04:18 [#00073949]

sanity is a choice and a matter of will (i believe). lsd
and many drugs will often bring out things in people that
were burried deep. many times these are things that would
be better faced and delt with than ignored, but using drugs
often brings on the subconscious too fast for some, which is
where bad things happen... but just understanding this alone
will help. i think it is key during a pychedelic experience
that you try not to deny anything. for instance, when
someone has a 'bad trip' often it is an unexplainable
painful emotion that has a root somewhere in your personal
life and most would try to block it out, which is unhealthy.
talking about the 'bad trip' until you begin to understand
the source is recomended if you are with people you can be
close to... which is a very good thing, tripping with those
you are comfortable with rather than people you don't well.
more often though hidden feelings of complete ecstasy arise
and that is of course something to indulge in :) your brain
won't turn to a pear, but the pathways in your brain are
probably altered, as they always are being altered. but i
think that your consciousness is what ultimately changes the
patterns your brain takes on, not the other way around. so
please, stay conscious of what it is that you want :)

"I've seen the greatest minds of my time turn to mud."
Allen Ginsberg "Howl"

Syd Barret was responsible for much of Pink Floyd's music
and later inspired much of their later stuff after he had to
leave the band due to his losing his mind from too much
acid. His story is very tragic. He wanted to see beyond,
and he truelly did, but somehow he got lost out there and
couldn't find his way back. Waters used this tragic
scenario for inspiration for many of his compositions like
Brain Damage and the entire Wish You Were Here album.
Eventually Waters himself began to share the same fate
untill his drug use and over indulgence in the rock star
lifestyle caught up with him too in became The Wall. Like
one bad trip, he encounters all the demons from his life
(his wife, his teacher, his mother, his peers) in this big
therapy session in some other dimmension and like Syd it was
a make or break point for him. Fortunately he made it back,
but at the cost of the break up of the band.

i say it with good ol´mick jagger: it´s good to let
yourself go as long as you get yourself back ...

i think that´s the point of it all ... for lsd everything
jand says i´d say too, and you must WANT lsd ... i mean
not from an addictive point of view, but like that you
definitely have to want to loose your known consciousness
for a while - you´re experiencing new truths belonging your
reality on lsd, so you have to really want it (especially
the first time!) ...
if it changes your brain activity? definitely for the time
you´re on (without question), but to change it for lifelong
times you have to take loads of it ... i´m not talking bout
the mind or your perception of the world, cause that changed
after the first time for me (positive!!), but about the
material structures of your brain ...

"lsd is probably me"

at first it was because i couldnt get it, because there were
only a select few people i got it from that i sort of lost

thought about it.
I'll smoke a doobie here and there with my fiance, or maybe
by myself whilst enjoying some BOC.

corngrower from Iowa on 2002-01-24 10:07 [#00074377]

I've always loved to experiment with my mind, and therefor
experiment with psychodelics. Ive had many great acid trips
in my life, such as which I do not have time to mention in
my curent drunken state, but I love acid, a substance which
I have experimented and distributed throughout my comunittee
for several years.
What I will coment on is my bad trip. My only bad trip
ever, which I experienced on shrooms. I was at my house, a
house which I lived in with three of my good friends. We
moved into this house last summer, and intended it to be a
place for good parties and good times. It was that indeed,
other than my unfortunate experience. One night, when every
one was, gone out, me and one of my roomates who had stayed
home, ate some shrooms. This was not the first time I'de
tripped, far from it, but this would end up being unlike any
trip I'de ever had.

corngrower from Iowa on 2002-01-24 10:42 [#00074382]

At about 11pm, my roomate and I were getting pretty bored.
He suggested that we eat some shrooms which he had been
saving, and watch natural born killers (which is one of the
trippiest movies ever). He busted out these shrooms he was
saving, a quarter to be exact, and we proceeded to eat an
eiqhth each. After that, we were sitting around waiting for
them to kick in for like half an hour. We went outside,
AND THATS WHEN IT STARTED. It started to hit us both at the
same time, and we were running around and laughing or asses
off, having a good time. Suddenly, a bug flew into my
mouth. I thougt that I swallowed it, but then I felt it
crawling up my throught. Suddenly, it started burrowing
into my adams apple. I was chocking and coughfing, trieing
to get it out. My roomate was helping me, reashuring that
there was no bug in my throught, the shrooms were just
fucking with me. But I felt it in my throught, and I was
sure that it was in their, and I had to get it out. I
started kind of freaking out, and though my roomate was
trying to comfort me, he was also tripping his balls off, so
my ordiel was fucking with him enoghf. Next thing I know, I
was puking my guts out in our bathroom. The hole time, I
was in my mind trying to get this creature out of my
throught. When I was done with a long punking ordeal, I
looked into the toilet at my puke. What I expected, was the
usuall vomite, but what I saw made my skin crawl. It was
pink and red, and in the puke, was what looked to my like
peices of my lungs, along with a small phetic like orgasim,
which seemed to be swimming around. I started freaking out,
and pointing it out to my roomate, WHO SAW IT AS WELL. I
ran to my room and colapsted on my bed, pulling my head into
my chest and hoping it was all a bad dream. At this time,
my roomate was trying to call some of our friends, trying to
find a sober person to come and help us out. Meanwhile, I
was being victom to the most horrofing holusionasations of
my life, pardon my bad spelling. I was seeing strange
visions and hearing strang voices, most of which I cannot
recall. One thing I do recall from this time, was a vision
of what I now think was an african woman in garmets, sitting
with her child and husband in her arms, both of them slowly
dieing of disease. She was looking strait at me, crying and
screaming out for help, please. I think. I started puking
uncontrollolobly. Next thing I new, I was lying in the
local hospitals emergancy room, thorsean being pumped into
my vains. My dad told me that some friends had gived me a
ride there and droped me off at the emergency room. The
people in the ER said that I wandered in with my arms around
my stomach, moaning, "they're here for me, please help me!"
or something along those lines. They thought I was another
alchol poisoning, since it is a University town and they see
that alot. They finally found out I was on shrooms, and
since I was totally conciounse, I had to manually pump my
own stomach. If you dont know, when they pump your stomach,
they actually put a tube down your throght, into your
stomach, which pumps charchoal into your stomach, the
charchoal nuetralizing the poisoning substance. But they
only do that when the patiente is unconsiouse. I was
consiounce, unfortunatly. Therefore, I had to drink
charcoal.
Now think about this for a second. What I have tried to
describe to you is the most intense and horrofining state of
mind Ive ever been in. And to top it off, I was forced to
drink a think, chunky, black liquid, while in the most
intense trip ever. After I did this, and puked black liquid
back out for about half an hour, they pumped my full of
thoroseen, and i passed out. I woke up the next morning,
with my parents sitting next to me in the hospital bed. My
dad said that when he got there, I was holding his had tight
as hell and sobing, saying, "thank god your hear!" over and
over again.
Later I found that the shrooms which I had ate had been
sitting in my roomates closet for over a month, and had
probably grown exec mold on them.
Even though this was the most horrofieing experience of my
life, it still helped me to gain a new perspective on my
life and the human mind. I now realise that, as you can
experiement with the amazing mind that you have, you never
really now how far your going till youve fallen over the
edge, and though you can gain mass realasation of ones self
through psychadelics, you can also go passed the boundaries
of your mind, to places which are not ment to be seen. I
saw those places that august night, and though the memories
are foggy, what I remember was not all that pleasant.
The message I am trying to give is not one against
experementing with psychadelics, but rather a insite into
what such experements can really lead to, and if your really
ready for the possibilities of what the outer reaches of
your mind will bring.

but it´s no surprise when the shrooms where lying to long
unvacuumed - what´s that thing you wrote when they grow

hmm, anyway take care next time that it´s FRESH!!! ;-)

what happened to your friend?

Cornblower...thanks for your story...

Like you, the only Bad Trip I'd had was on mushrooms...&
that was a real suprise as they are supposed to be mild...in
fact, when getting them out, my mate said she'd doubt they'd
be enough to go around (amoungst 4 of us...)...

It didn't help that I knew my partner was at work and due
back in 2-3 hrs...

plus...watching fukcing James Bond on TV really was the pit
at the bottom of the pit....

but yeah, these sort of incidents are rare, and didn't put
me further trips etc...sometimes a Bad trip can tell you as
much as a good one...

Glad you came out of it ok in the end...

wow. I'mm so impressed with this thread- lots of good
insight, and a fucking well-told story, too. My best and
worst experiences were during the same trip- I think it was
a 10-strip of acid.... all the shit buried down deep came
up, like it does, and manifested in some awful shit! I
dealt with it somehow, and was granted passage to an
ultimate state of existence, a Love State, if you will, for
which I'm eternally grateful... I've got to write it all
down, too... though it's been 7 years since it happened, I
think I've still got a lot of it.... I've heard/ read that
while you're still recieving the same sensory input, you're
experiencing different 'peices' of it.. we only normally
percieve a small chunk of the shit that's actally happening
all around us, and LSD can expose different parts.... and
impose your own thoughts onto your visual, auditory reality,
too...

I'm with Ophecks when he says he wants a bit more from life.
I want more out of life than what a hip little pill tricks
me into feeling.

his words:
"I can't stand partys and drugs and all that... I know lots

but i do enjoy reading all the trip reports, definite

I don't buy that natural theory. Acid is extracted from
some sort of mold or fungus. There are plenty of natural
things that will kill. The natural test is WAY too
simplified. Besides, who says humans aren't a part of
nature? Some are afraid of mushrooms, some afriad of acid.
The experience has much to do with belief.

Weed is definitely psychedelic if you are open to it. The
key is sensitivity I think. And the fact that I smoke on
very rare occasion.

Speaking of Mold & things growing on stuff...

Apparently LSD occurs naturally (or a very close compound)
in a mould that grows on Wheat and other foodstuffs..This
stuff is known as Argot & has a very similar effect to
LSD...

I saw a program about how they suspect that the whole of
Salem witch trials and associated hysteria were caused by
this stuff growing on the towns supplies of wheat..

I'll see if I can dig up a link....
