I just heard the new releases of Merck: Tiki Obmar -
Seasons & Lateduster - Easy Pieces and they are very
postrock sounding,
it sounds good tho but I don´t hope they will continue with
this...

is there going to be more of this electro/IDM/postrock
coming up?
anyone who can tell me?

i like the new tiki obmar a lot.

i just "discovered" corker/conboy (on vertical form). some
electro-postrock jazz stuff. really good.

rarndaraki = 1/3 of tiki obmar. they are from my town and
have unfortunately broken up. i'm sure you'll be hearing
from the constituent members, though...

there's plenty of electro/idm/postrock to go around right
now...

true.
not only now though ;)

try Roots of Orchis, Berg Sans Nipple, La mAkita Soma,
etc...

It seems like the label post rock gets applied to anyone
making interesting genre-defying music with live
instruments, or a combination of live and electronic.
Pitchfork insisted on calling the new Radian album post
rock, I suppose solely because it was released on the Thrill
Jockey label. But it sounds nothing like Sea and Cake or
Tortoise, you pitchforkian dumbshits!

yeah, i guess calling radian post-rock is indeed too far
fetched.

agh! labelling stuff sucks. they just need to compare it to
other artists which sound alike. that's what i find usefull
in reviews/mailorder descriptions. the label 'post-rock'
could mean anything really.

pitchfork would criticize bob marley for making a reggae
album (assuming bob was alive), and praise another artist
for recording his clothes dryer while his house was burning
to the ground.

you see, it's the fact the the house is burning down that
makes the clothes dryer so compelling...

to balance out the negative in this post, i'd like to say
that i like some music that some people call post rock.
