i know that i'm no good at compression - most of the time i
use the presets in TrackS and i know i shouldn't :(

i really wanna try and get compression right, especially
since i'm hoping to start on some new material that is
gig-worthy.

my stuff doesn't seem to be as big as i'd like it to be, i
mean i want huge drums but i still want my synths and
"textures" to be heard as well, and i don't seem to be able
to get both :(

i was thinking - would it be better to compress different
things differently? like, say export only bass synths from
Reason, compress them with a suitable setting, then export
drums and compress those, export anything else and compress
that and then bring it all back together?

or is that overkill?

i really need help guys and gals :(

apparently, it's better to use seperate compression on each
of the tracks.

I don't really bother with compression in the classic sense
though.

are you planning on doing static compression, or a form of
dynamic variable comp.

i use compression on my drums in Reason, but i know that the
compressor in Reason is a bit naff.

for my "mastering" i use Peak 4.12 and TrackS AU........i
usually end up using the "Loud and Clear" preset most of the
time :(

erm.....by static do you mean just doing the whole track in
one as a stereo file, or compressing individual tracks?

I'm not familiar with the music applications, but I'll keep
an eye on this thread for relevent questions pertaining to
compression and algorithms.
