I was on the bus yesterday, and it was the first time in a
long while i have actually felt like committing murder.

There was a little lad, maybe 3 years old, sitting in front
of me with his sister, shooting everyone on the bus with
some kind of plastic-disc firing toy contraption. He seemed
only able to make one sound, a kind of high-pitched
pseudo-shriek unlike anything i have ever heard. It was
worse than smojphace, i tell thee. Anyway, this leads to my
questions:

Do you feel like you would be a good parent? Do you want to
have children? My answers to both of these questions would
be a resounding "no". I think i'd end up killing my
hypothetical children through sheer, grinding annoyance, not
even counting the horrible responsibility raising a child
for 18 or more years.

And those of you who actually have kids: how the hell do you
fucking cope?

I could never be a parent because I have a tendency to lash
out at those weaker than me. Plus I fuckin' hate kids, which
wouldn't be a positive factor. And on top of that
reproducing by humans should be stopped, we've done enough
damage already..

I don't want to have children. it's a purely logical thing
for me - I come from a kind of fucked up environment so I
don't think I can be a good parent.

on the other hand, as you might know I rent a room at a kind
of artist's workplace thingy, where also the ensemble works
which I write texts for and a lot of other artists and all
these people are in their early thirties and are having
children left, right and center.

and then it does seem kind of nice, when you see how happy
they are.

*sigh*

I just tried posting in a non-existant topic.

that definately makes me unfit to be a parent.

it's weird coz the reason i'm quite keen is the exact
reason why you aren't.

I just see how my brother (who's older than me) still has
trouble coping with life and I see the trouble I've been
through the last 7 years and I just think that's not a
healthy basis.

it's purely rational though, who knows what'll happen if I
meet the right person, etc.

Yeah, it is heartening to see people with a shedload of kids
who are happy and fulfilled with their "role as Parent" or
whatever. But right now, i can't see that being the road for
me. Aside from the teeth-grinding and fist-restraining, i
couldn't deal with being tied to a parenting situation,
schoolz and daytrips to the zoo and such. Maybe i'll feel
different 10 years down the line.

teehee! :)

it's the Rosa Ensemble in Utrecht. they're doing a kind of
program of Captain Beefheart-songs. the music has been
arranged and reinterpreted by a friend of mine, who is part
of the ensemble as a composer (he posts on the board as
Bremzen). all the lyrics have been translated to Dutch and I
did about half of the translations.

I'm also writing the libretto for an opera - Bremzen will be
composing the music and in about 2 years it will be a full
production, with the Rosa Ensemble.

recently I've been remixing some of Rosa's recordings, and
maybe parts of my work will be used in an upcoming Rosa-cd.

and a lot of people who also rent a workingplace here
(including myself and Bremzen) together with Rosa are now
trying to set up our own label.. but thats still in the
planningstages!
