Maybe spoilers, maybe not. I'm sure a lot of you have read
the David Morrell book anyway. I started the book last
night, and finished it just now, and it turns out that me
and Rambo have a lot in common. We're both ultramacho
killing machines despite being just kids. Don't push us...

Kid, that was kind of unexpected. The movie of course stars
Sly Stallone (36 at the time I think), and it's a great
film... deserves more than the 6.8 it got at IMDB. I'm sure
a ton of those votes were by biased people who went into the
movie with the score a foregone conclusion. The sequels are
just absurd of course.

Book caught me off guard with the age thing... and also by
not making Rambo nearly as sympathetic of a character. Guy's
nuts. Calm exterior but posessing the ability to kill 30
guys by himself, with his bare hands (just like me). Really
interesting book, two stubborn fuck war vets from different
generations going for broke. The ending also was a lot more
effective than Sly's incoherent ''social commentary'' at the
end of the movie. One of the greyest stories I've read... I
guess the movie conditioned me to subconciously cheer for
Rambo, but it's hard to when he's being such a... you know,
vicious taker of lives and all.

First Blood rocks, yes?

that dude falling out of the helicopter onto the rocks

the rocks.

Yeah, that sucked to be that guy. But he had it coming. The
part that fucked me up most was the spiked ''trap'' Rambo
built slammed into one of the cop's knees.

In the book, no need for traps, it's all about kills.

The movie is pretty cool!
I love it when he flips out at the police station. Stalone
was once a good actor.
Must read the book sometime , i think my dad has it
somewhere.

It would be more interesting than Rambo, that's for sure.

Haha. The movie rocked, you know it did. But definitely, the
book is much better, I highly recommend it to anyone that
isn't a girl, or a girly man. Much deeper and darker, and
Rambo is a really interesting character. It's a lot easier
to understand his motivations. And it only hints at some of
the issues and undercurrents that are in the book.
