some friends of mine are going to slovenia this summer (around the 20th of agoust they will get there after being in croatia and italy) they will first got o your town where they will be like 2 days I think could you tell me good places to go out at night? good and cheap places to sleep in downtown? |

sure my house is one option...if they like britney spears and such :) hmm, for a cheap place to sleep i'd totally recomend a place called , it's very cheap and very convenient for young people + there are all the decent clubs in ljubljana there (although im not sure there will be any electronica gigs at that time...but if it isn't electronica, it's going to be some kind of alternative music for sure). i just checked and apperantly a german band "das krill" is playing there on 19. avgust ...noise-grind-death kind of thing :) damn, most of the clubs in that complex are closed during summer, but there are always some events going on in the open air in that same place...alternative music and other alternative art related stuff. there's also this cool festival called trnfest happening for one month (till the end of august). there's some spanish band playing here on 20th august :) if they're in need for some spanish music: 20.30: WAGNER PÁ (Španija)- world glasba 22.30: ELECTROSACHER COLLECTIVE (Italija) - downtempo, triphop, broken beat, d'n'b ter dub here's a link to the program of the ... if they want something not alternative - there are many pubs in downtown ...i (almost) never go there so i can't recommend, but i'd say they should visit cutty sark or as (they're neighbours, so there's always something happening there). if they want something fancy, they should go to "global" - i haven't been there yet, but apperantly if they want to meet (well, fuck) some nice girls that's the place to go... the thing about that celica hostel is that it is usually full - it's got good reputation so it's kind of hard to get in i imagine - anyway they can check through that site i made link to (it's in english) and maybe book when they'll know when are they arriving. in case they can't get in, there could be trouble for a cheap pl |

damn - i got cut off... anyway, if they can't get place in celica it could be a bit difficult to get another cheap place to stay...perhaps the best option would be . this city fucking sucks when you need a cheap room to stay. |

one of the downsides of a small city is the lack of certain genre oriented clubs...i mean there's always some electronic music to be found playing in that complex where the "cell hostel" is, but as i said all those clubs are closed during summer, and even when they're opened only like 20 or 30 people show up...even when there are people like doormouse, jan jelinek, jason forrest (donna summer) performing...but i guess that's what you get in a city with a population of 300.000. out of these 300.000 there are 200.000 spending their summer time on the sea side so it's pretty empty around here...well, there are plenty of tourists so that makes it a bit better. but as i mentioned above, that "trnfest" festival is real cool, and plenty people (cool people btw) attend that one...it's practically the only decent thing happening around here these days...oh, and i forgot to mention, it's free...you get to see everything for free...you just pay for the booze. |

yeah, they should defintely try out their luck there!! only cool people hang out around there, and i checked again, and there's something happening there every night...djs and stuff... ill have the proper list of events for week 16th-23rd on monday though. btw, would you like me to tell that girl how awesome i think you are? :) |

some more stuff: 16.08. - Boo! south african band playing fusion or african rhythms, melodic pop and electronic/dance sounds. 17.08. - E!A"XX music performance by Yanoosha - electronic music, improvisation... 20.08. - hip hop festival "sanje" (slovenian artists) (20h) -Wagner Pa (20.30h), brazilian artist... 21.08. - Tha Flow, mixture of ska punk and reggae... 22.08. - Kix, funk-jazz-rock band from Sarajevo. hmm, what a boring week...perhaps the most boring this year. but there are surely going to be some nice gigs on metelkova (the place where "celica" is). surely next week is going to be better :) |
