*realises how strange that sounds without reading the
article*

Yeah, I saw this on the news today. Although I was thinking
of ways people could get round it, i.e. Getting a mini fan
and blowing air from that, or getting one of those things
that you use to get fires going (can't remember the name).
I think it's a good start however, and quite a good idea.

I think it needs to detect a certain amount of moisture to
avoid people just wafting it around to pass it

Pretty soon they'll link it up with a dna test so no one can
cheat 8op

just install Kit from Nightrider:

camp luvvy voice:

"really Micheal.... or whoever you are, you don't expect me
to seriously let you drive in that state do you? Tch!... Now
why don't you just go and get the bus?"

accidents, problem solved.

I could earn some money on the side by hanging out in car
parks at 11.00, sober and full of valuable breath.

i wonder how accurate it is? if it's relatively accurate, i
think this is a great idea. a buddy of mine had a little
breathalizer, but it didn't seem to be calibrated very well.
either that or we got deathly drunk VERY often... which is
a possiblity.

i'm all for freedom and whatnot, but when your right to
drink and drive interferes with my family & loved one's
right to live i'm ok with the gov't removing your right.

"taking away my freedom and rights."

but you DON'T have the right to drink and drive, same way
you shouldn't have the right to incite violence, kill
people. etc. Thats why its illegal, old bean! This is about
enforcing the law.

A pretty good idea if it saves lives.

Dannn_ : i thought you did that anyway! :)

I think the level of alcohol that you can consume before
driving should be mesured in a different way though cause
it's different for each person

some people can have a pint and be hammerd, here as other
will be able to drive

erm... if you know your going to drive you really shouldn't
be drinking alcohol at all.

that's the way blood alcohol levels work. a 300 pound dude
could drink more than a 110 pound person and have the same
BAC.

weight and metabolism play an important role. of course, if
the tester is all out of wack and innacurate it wouldn't
really matter.

i like how in new zealand and i guess in jolly old england
they call it drink driving instead of drunk driving cause
it's more polite and doesn't assume that someone is a drunk,
or alcoholic.

all i can think of is silent bob, the spokesperson for
saab.

anyhow, in my state this past year, a woman who had several
convictions for drunk driving ended up being forced to have
one of these breathalyser things installed in her car before
it would start, but she found a way around it. she needed
to go to the grocery store while intoxicated for some
reason, so she just made her 11 year old son blow into it
for her so she could drive WITH ALL OF HER CHILDREN in the
car...i don't remember the exact details of her getting
caught, but i do believe it was a pretty serious accident
(no fatalities).
