it would appear that lars von trier's 'the idiots'
(idioterne) and thomas vinterberg's 'the celebration'
(festen) are getting a wide north american DVD release on
the 27th of this month (july). these films are dogme #2 and
#1.
in my opinion they are both very excellent.
and as far as i can tell from my searching the only dvd
release of the idiots i could find was an overpriced and
highly edited asian version. so. exciting.

uhm, well since filmmakers have so little to say or there's
so little behind filmmaking or whatever ive read those
stupid rules fifty times in articles. it was a great way to
attract attention

ure right
but i dont think it was solely for the sake of attracting
attention
i think its quiet a fresh approach
and it gave results, minimalizing and making movies really
emotional

ditto. Very engaging films that give you a closeness to the
subject that is more often than not absent from most of the
films made today.

they are NOT art for arts sake but genuine attempts at
credible cinema.

i like a lot of dogme films, but usually come out of the
theatre with a massive headache and just about ready to puke
my guts out because the camera is so shaky.
