If you've ever closed your eyes, listened to SAW and just
drifted off, you might be very interested in this.

Brainwave Generator

This is a program for your PC that uses a technology called
binaural beats with a tone generator (and also screen
flashes), in order to alter your brainwaves. You can get
into any state of mind within about 15 minutes. Use it to
quickly relax, focus attention, meditate, or to deeply
deeply relax until you have 'out of body experience'-like
effects. With it, I've had some incredible experiences. Just
ignore the new-age crap some people connect it with, and try
it out, knowing what to expect from it. You can find all you
need to know from the pages on that site and the links page.
You can download the program there, it's shareware. I would
explain binaural beats and entrainment here, it's very
interesting, but there's good info on the site. Do check it
out, you won't be disappointed.

Yes thankyou, sarcasm is good...
I'm not saying it's a complete miracle, but from my personal
experience it's fantastic :D

i did some brainwave emission researches before...it's quite
amuzing, cos it's works 100% on the natural process of
sending enjoyable frequencies to stimulate the brain.
it's a very interresting topic to talk about.

when i was younger i constructed light goggles out of leds,
old safety glasses and tinfoil..... using an old dos machine
it is fairly easy to bang up some qbasic code to do patterns
and such on the lights in front of your eyes. i had it
hooked up to the parralell port and you can just swith the
data lines hi/low to turn a light on or off. dos allowed
direct access to the system ports(its harder with windows).
then i had recordings of slightly different tones on each
channel, which induced the beat frequency. 400/404hz i
remember being good.

wow, how old were you when you did this amazingly pointless
thing?

eghh..... 15?
not pointless! fun!
i had(still have) an incredibly old 4mhz laptop that worked
just great for it, i had the software all written with
preset patterns, like you can just flash all the lights on
together, or have the eyes alternate, or even have the 4
lights infront of each eye do special patterns. it was
really cool. i should pull it out. the goggles were great
looking too- big shiny tinfoil things (to reflect the light
towards you more) with a big bundle of solid core telco wire
coming down from it. rock.

sounds awesome. i could only get 2 wires to flip in qbasic,
not all of them using the lpt port

hmmm... i'm on "the awakenend mind" and it feels like i'm in
some weird hitchcockian B-movie where any moment now the
real world will reveal itself to be some dark sex-filled
underbelly of hedonism used as state-control...

...class!

I've thouight about making some LED goggles for it too.
Although using the visual effects in that program is pretty
good. Some of the builtin settings on it aren't so good,
other people have made better ones, you can get them from
the site under preset library. or you can just make some
crazy preset yourself. I made one that goes up to 60Hz with
a really high carrier frequency, it makes me feel hyper,
stressed and in pain because of this terrible sound at the
same time :D

I've heard of something similar to this. I believe it is
called Hemme-Sync. So, have you had any lucid dreams or out
of body experiences yet? And if you have had an out of body
experience, was it real time?

If you think this program is cool...check out ryoji ikeda's
"matrix."

Hemi-Sync are a company that make these sounds I think. Not
lucid dreams, although I have used some presets with this
program that run all night, and my dreams were very vivid, I
could remember them. Out of body experiences, well, from
reading about what to expect with this, other people's
experiences, I've got very close to it, but no not yet. I
think a big part of it could be what you expect to happen,
and as i'm a bit of a skeptic, maybe it's harder for me to
get all the effects.
The effects I get include a feeling of falling/swaying,
sound hallucination, and once or twice really strong
feelings of vibrations going up from my spine to my head,
that's pretty intense :)

I'm sceptical about OOB experiences as well. I think it's
just a vivid dream rather than projected conciousness.

Oh definitely, yeah. I read that it's due to the part of
your brain that organises your senses shutting down.

It would be cool if it were projected conciousness though...
