hmm
strange
well council tax in uk is the tax every citizen pays (except
students), for living in the country, its determined by the
local council, and u r paying it monthly regardless if u r
renting a small room, or a villa, coz its payed for every
person individually

oh, that was income tax, if you make little money and dont
have more then 2000 on your bankaccount, you pay like 250
euro to the city, depending on the city you live in

working properly...but it isn't, that's why i mind it a lot!

ofcos but this thing affects all ppl, from those on minimum
wage (where i belong), to those that earn 1000s of pounds a
week

and thats why its harsh
its not leveled as income tax lets say

i mean, here u dont pay any tax for yr income before £112 a
week, and then u pay 23% after that
and with the big shots it goes up to %45 of income
but i think thats fair

top rate of UK income tax is 40%, not 45%. which is much in
line with taxation under the tory 1980's (back in the early
70's it was more like 70%).

the lib dems propose a new super-category of £100,000+
earners paying 50% income tax, to fund an abolishment of the
council tax. which i heartily support because, as you say,
council tax is a very regressive form of taxation.

From Glade website: The festival will begin at midday on
Friday 16th July 2004 and run until 6pm on Sunday 18th July
2004, with the bars closing at 8pm on Sunday.

I need to buy a festival hat to protect my pasty white skin
from the sun. What type of hat should I buy?

Council tax is paid on seperate dwellings and not
individuals . Different sized properties are banded
differently and each council sets their own council tax
rates for each of the bands. So people with large houses
can pay up to three times more than people in smaller
houses.

As for income tax, there is no tax to pay on the first
£4,745 of your annual income, 10% to pay on the next
£2,020, 22% on any earnings up to 31,400 and 40% on
anything you earn above that.

You also have to pay National Insurance which is 11% of any
money earn't above £91 a week and less than £610, anything
over £610 1% is taken as National Insurance. Although those
of us who are self employed also have class 3 N.I. to pay as
well.

I agree though, taxes in the UK are fucking stupid.
