This is mostly about their 1st album. It's fantastic soul music nobody ever mentions. The memetic rock music they make me listen to at my snagglepus factory job is an embarrasing disrespect of music compared to it. Shannon was a fantastic singer, and the music and vocals worked together as one, changing emotion simultaneously. The lyrics are fantastic I think.. He could be emotionally surreal too, using voice sounds with no lexical meaning. Thank god your soul has been released Shannon Hoon. I'm still alive here unfortunately, but would like being friends in the afterlife if that's ok with you.

yeah, blind melon were awesome song writers! the first album brings back a lot of memories for me, it's one of the very few rock bands (i used to listen to) that still sounds good to me today. very funky, feel good tunes. i always imagined 'tones of home' to be the ultimate driving tune.
